Got some more photos from Locky of CAF. Check out these beautifully gapped panels! Bodywork is almost drawing to a close. Some beautiful work done to this shell thus far. looking on track, and in to paint when our guy is next available.

Got the latest update from Les at LCR. It’s starting to feel real now! Look at the pipes coming out of that thing...just stunning!

More photos from Les. He also gave me the following info: The pistons are new 85 mm Crank is L28 79 mm stroke. Conrod's are 133mm late L24 rods with big rod bolts same as L28 bolts. Engine is 2690ccs 10.8 to 1 compression. E88 head with 44 mm inlet valves. Heads on engine about to receive front cover and sump. Then its close to being ready to dyno. Carbies are set up on the inlet manifold.

Yes I have based the engine and all the upgrades on les’ recommendations with the stipulation that it needs to be still nice/reasonably easy to drive on a sunny Sunday and additionally I want it to be quick and to have modern sports car performance figures. And I couldn’t agree more Jeff...the L Series is an amazing engine. That engine and that sound was the essence of the z cars...I wouldn’t want to go down the road of changing that.

Lastly, a big shout out to Locky Fowler from CAF. I would not want anyone else working on my z. The guy is a stickler for quality and should be at the top of your list for choosing who will manage your z restoration.

Just got my original bumpers back from the re-chroming...I will miss my left kidney but damn was it worth it to have original bumpers looking this fantastic!! Great job Les and Locky from LCR and CAF respectively.

Hey guys, Beware that they don’t come from retro sound like that. The guy at classic auto sound here in Australia will build it as a replica for you To match the screen and labels from the Datsun 240z. He’s not cheap but it is probably your best option rather than going a kenwood and having that stick out like DB. He was super easy to deal with as well.

Oh, and made my final order of parts from the z store. Literally the only things I need now are high end coaxial speakers and a nardi deep corn steering wheel. Other than those I have bought all the parts required to replace just about everything inside and outside other than bumpers, Some panels, glass, dash and console....all of which are getting or done being restored.

Just got some photos from Les Collins. CC head almost finished for assembly (attached) Koni yellow shocks Complete and all ready to go back to CAF. getting some great momentum now in this project that is very dear to me and my old man.

Original Bumpers on the way to be stripped, straightened and re-chromed. The reproduction bumpers were not suitable and didn’t follow the curvature of the car.

Here’s a few more photos from the hard working experts at Les Collins Racing. Well within sight of the finish line for the power train now. The head is ported and we are having seats cut and surfacing work done. Then it will get water blasted and look a million $.

Yes the work done at CAF is pretty remarkable. What Locky can do with metal defies belief...all I can do with metal is hit bad golf shots with it. Some more progress shots with some more parts going on. The gapping process is underway. Hopefully getting some progress shots from LCR very soon.

New roof in place. Mastered by none other than Locky Fowler of CAF. There’s work and then there’s art...this is the latter! The car is not far off paint now. Les Collins of LCR should be sending photos soon. He is doing engine rebuild and mods, gearbox rebuild and mods, diff, brakes upgrade, suspension Upgrade, and clutch upgrade for me.
