Really enjoyable uneventful run, the R & R dynamic duo managed to get lost again despite excellent route maps and instructions and Terry was last to get his meal, again! We did miss you. I'll endeavour to give earlier notice next time so members from this forum can plan for it.

I got hold of some 6mm aluminium plate from the local hardware store and using the gasket as a template made up a blanking plate when I installed the Carter Rotary pump (about 20 yrs ago). I think I have since seen them on ebay and such places. From memory the aluminium plate was about 300 x 200mm in size and can be used for fabricating other bits and pieces. Hope that helps. I will over the weekend Gav, they actually look more like your previous ones in that where the ram tubes mount, the small hole there at the 12 o'clock position has parallel sides and rounded at the top and bottom whereas your second set, last photo, the hole is round. Mine do have part numbers on them which I can send you, I have a suspicion they came off a Celica. Regards Craig

I can suggest 2 out west that I have done recently. Taralga hotel, Taralga, meet at the Hydro Majestic Hotel in Medlow Bath then travel 2 hours to Taralga via excellent driving roads, for Sydney siders it is about a 35 min drive from Taralga to Goulburn/Hume hwy to return to Sydney. 2nd option, Tarana Hotel, Tarana 45 mins from Hydro at Medlow Bath, alternate route which is a great drive is to go via Jenolan Caves rd to Oberon then up to Tarana and return via Great Western Hwy or Bells line of road. Another addition to the Tarana route is a stop in Lithgow at the Small Arms Factory for a tour then on to lunch at the Tarana Hotel. Really enjoyable drive even if it meant leaving home at the crack of dawn and breakfast at 5.30! Very nice group of cars and drivers, one benefit of being in the lead was watching the 240/260 tail flowing through the bends of the Royal National Park even at the speed limit and under. The venue of the Scarborough Hotel was excellent with a passing parade of other classics on a Sunday drive and a plethora of open exhaust bikes (maybe I'm showing my age there!) excellent lunch with Mike and Ian, thoroughly enjoyed everyone's company. I'll definitely be doing more of these and might even be able to bring a 260 for a run, shoulder permitting. I will keep everyone informed of future Z car club Sydney runs. It was a great day with a really good turnout, Trainworks at Thirlmere was very interesting, I was honestly surprised, I thought it was going to be full of cardigan and sandals wearing Camry drivers, how wrong I was! There is some great history with some early Aussie heavy engineering, you could easily spend half a day there to cover the displays, I highly recommend it. Should be good for that, I am getting an itchy right foot, haven't been able to drive for 4 weeks, 2 to go.

I am keen, providing my arm is out of a sling and I can drive again!

I'll be there in the black 350z, probably the last drive for a while, off to hospital for shoulder/collar bone surgery on Thursday, can't drive for at least 4 weeks post operation, not a good passenger! Look me up at eastern creek if anyone goes. Regards Craig

Hi Chris, the Abercrombie rd river crossing was closed, you couldn't have got through to Oberon anyway, my influence, according to Alan, is only north of the river! Planning to do the Taralga run again in more hospitable weather, stay tuned. Regards Craig

Hi Peter, Didn't want to disappoint you too much but you missed out on a great day. Mother Nature intervened but, thanks to a bit of forethought, I was able to get us into the Tarana pub, well actually outside, the publican forgot to tell us they already had a booking for 50 and there was no room in the inn! 20 of us huddled together outside in 4 degree temperatures, to their credit, with the numbers they had, it was only about 20 - 25 minutes after placing our orders the food started flowing and good pub food it was too. We left Medlow Bath at about 10.45, due to a few wanderers, and headed off towards Jenolan Caves rd through typical Sunday mountains traffic, once heading down Jenolan Caves rd the traffic thinned out a lot and we enjoyed a steady pace down to the turnoff on Duckmaloi rd where a quick pit stop and bunch-up took place before a spirited drive to chilly Oberon, after a short transit through town, we turned onto Lowes Mount rd which meandered through some very scenic country side with evidence of lots of fallen trees being very recently cleared from the road, this brought us to Mutton Falls rd for the last stretch before arriving at the pub at about 12.30ish. Really disappointed I couldn't get the Taralga drive to happen but I will endeavour to plan it again before the year is out, however the day did turn out really well. I am happy to try and put together another Tarana run but for a Saturday as the barmaid told me they only served 10 meals the day before we arrived, make a note anyone venturing out that way. Also nice to meet Alan, aka Zeds4ever another Mountains forum member who partnered up with Tony for the day, thanks for that Tony and thanks for your report. Hopefully some photos to follow. Important update re today's run, sorry for the late notice, I have just had confirmed by Goulburn Police that the Abercrombie rd river crossing is closed, therefore we are diverting to the Tarana Hotel at Tarana. The meeting place and time is the same, 10.00am at the Hydro Majestic Medlow Bath, we will travel to Tarana via Oberon so still using some of the roads on the original run. Sorry for the inconvenience, Mother Nature wins again. Regards Craig
