    Cam Tower Bolt Torque

This is not realted to headbolts at all, this is the camshaft tower bolts that hold the camshaft towers in place. These ones: Here is what the text says from 'How to Rebuild Your Nissan & Datsun OHC Engine'. And again here on the next page I first cleaned up the bolt thread with a wire wheel. Then oiled bolt threads and underneath the head of the bolt. I had the camshaft in place whilst torquing. I used a 40 Nm to 200 Nm Teng torque wrench (prehaps too big?) Also noticed that the smaller bolt (one that stripped) was missing a dowel for the camshaft tower (maybe another reason why thread stripped). Mind you the threads that stripped was female aluminium inside the head. Also the longer camshaft tower bolt kept spinning like it had stripped a thread but when inspected threads inside the head appeared fine. The above was attempted only once on the first camshaft tower. I'll obviously need a helicoil to fix this but I'd like to know if I was using the wrong torque amount.
  2. I was torquing down my camshaft bearing tower bolts, with torque settings according to 'How to Rebuild your L series' and cleanly stripped the threads out in the cylinder head. So I am guessing that the book is incorrect or I'm blind. So anyway what is the correct torque settings the cam tower bolts?

  4. Thats a C110 sedan or a 'Yonmeri'. I be very interested in this sort of airbox aswell theres an outfit in the UK that do FRP/ CF airboxes for 6 cylinder engines equipped with weber type carbs. That valve cover on the same car, underneath the spark plug leads there's a big OHC. Did some searching on OLX (Seth African Gumtree?) on Laurels I've never seen this valve cover ever before, or heard of it. Sorry to derail/ hijack Gav

    WTB L28 Headbolts

Yeah I did end up asking Nissan, and they were after $2.15 per washer, $13.25 per long bolt and $18 per short bolt. Thats a total of $258.35 I mean you may aswell go ARP headstuds.
  7. Hell yeah! Can I bring round my lesser C210? Really I just want to see one in person, as I missed the red one at the recent Jaf's cruise.

    WTB L28 Headbolts

I would like to buy a full set of L28 headbolts and washers. I would prefer them in good condition not too rusty, non damaged threads etc. Im located in South Australia, I'm happy to pay for shipping.
  9. Bits like towing hook points, auto trans crossmembers, jacking points, some sort of hinge and a fan clutch. All in used condition. Don't own a 280ZX so I dont need them came with an L28 I bought. Price: $10 cash Location: Alberton, SA (pm me for more details) Sold as is I have more pictures of the other parts if need be.
  10. Im going to stay away from flares personally, they do look good and they suit coupe's even more. However I don't want to ruin the lovely crease down the side cutting it up for some flares, I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
  11. Bah Skyline shivver. Now there's two exciting things in Adelaide, I haven't seen the red one yet.
  12. Smokeys the coolest.
  13. This one? http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/croydon/cars-vans-utes/1977-datsun-260z/1058215852 I've seen it about looks in nice condition.
  14. Nothing wrong with 2+2's, it's when they are claimed to be rare when a number of them are for sale on same website.
  15. Non original engine, wheels, paint, limited interior shots. Maybe $10k/$15k for this 240K. Also whats with all these people trying to cash in on 2+2's. They are not nearly as desirable as a 240Z and the market at one time or still is flooded with these 'rare' examples some very well over priced. It's very funny when they claim rare on their advertisement but there's about 8 other 2+2's for sale on the same site. They are very uncommon but far from rare 2+2's that is. Something I needed to get off my mind.
  16. I have similar looking ones, one is off a 280ZX the other a patrol. Mine all look the same but different to the ones you posted. And mount to the engine (where mechanical fuel pump would be) I have 2 sets.
  17. I might try to get uo there. Meet at a place beforehand?
  18. Looks great, baby blue?
  19. Great metal forming
  20. Another good one, been watching this one for a while now. LOTS of innuendos, he even has an episode dedicated to rebuilding a Mazda 13B very insightful. Also very talented with the welder and metal work.
  21. Don't forget to tell Jesse Streeter your chassis code.
  22. I'm looking at getting some ITM pistons (Isuzu's sound good), I hear meant to be good for the money. What is the 'upper head stuff' is it valve train components springs/rockers, do they have names? a link? please? or do I need to talk to Les Collins/PMC? I've read about the oil gallery plug tapping in the how to modify book. I'm making a reliable street motor that, so I wont be rebuilding it every race season (so does it really apply?). I'm taking on all your advice as much as I can. I'm currently in Melbourne selling off an L28 EFI manifold (and other reasons, 2 birds 1 stone) so I've had no internet.
  23. Sorry now I get it, I thought dazzed meant I had to remove a whole section of oil gallery.
