Thought I’d better start a proper thread about my engine build instead of carrying on in the general section. plan is to pull out the 4.4L and Supra box to fuel inject and turbocharge my L26. im slowly gathering the bits to do so. so far I have a l26, an e88 carby head and the efi intake. this weekend I redrilled the head to mount the efi manifold, and notched the ports for the injectors. Seemed a bit daunting but in reality it was pretty easy. I’ll be putting a micro squirt in to control the spark and the injectors, with ls2 coils and I have a turbo off a forester gt laying around. question, will the forester turbo be adequate? I plan on running around 10 psi. Also can I get some injector advice. will standard 280zx injectors be ample? Or will I be better off getting some higher flowing ones in anticipation of future upgrades should the need arise? If someone could chime in that would be great.

Thanks guys. I’ll embark on modding it on the weekend. OdinZ you sound like my uncle. He was the one that put the v8 in it. I bought the car knowing I’d be pulling it out. It sounds and goes quite well, but I’ve always liked the L6 motor. it will be good for someone wanting a v8 and 5 speed when I pull it out. I’ll be selling the whole conversion. Engine, gearbox, tail shaft etc when I’m done. It all bolts up to the factory mounts.

Hi guys. mom embarking on converting my l26 to efi. I’m going to pull the 4.4l v8 out and replace it with a fuel injected turbo l26. I have the efi manifold and before I spend money on a e88 head with the injector notches I thought I’d ask if it was possible to notch the head for the injectors? Another roadblock is that the current head has the wrong spacing on the top row of bolts to attach the manifold to the head. now, can I redrill and tap the head to suit the manifold bolt holes? I have 2 e88 heads and they are slightly different by the head on the motor seems to have more meat behind where the bolt holes are. pics attached

As above, I’m after a 280zx turbo exhaust manifold. if anyone has one laying around please let me know. mill consider a non factory jobbie too thanks in advance

sounds good, ill email you this arvo.

yes, thanks mate, but the states is a bit far for a hatch. ittd cost a motza to get it here. im thinking fibreglass may have to be the option. i really would like a steel one though.

well, here is my 'if' and 'but' i bought a car from nsw that was modded with a late model f.i. turbo motor, to get the bugger registered in qld all i did was take the nsw engineer report into qld transport with the rego transfer papers and roadworthycert, and walla, easy as. this was also years after the conversion had been done. may be different in vic though.

Hey guys new to this Forum

gday RiP, i have just bought my 240z not too long ago, it all looked pretty good on the outside despite a red backyard paint job, but being my third zed i knew it could be shabby underneath the paint. sure enough it had its share. sills are buggered at each end, doglegs on both sides stuffed, some nasty rust where the roof meets the rear quarter, and the hatch slam panel was munted. remember its only metal and can be fixed. i never did a welding course , just bought a good mig and learnt for myself. its quite simple really, just slow and steady. ill post some pics in a journal soon of my rusty revival. -
guys, im in desperate need of a good hatch for a 240. mine is a bit too rusty and seems to be a bit skew-iff. i should add i just need the bare hatch, no glass, rubbers, locks or hinges newcastle or brisbane area would be good as i can pick it up from either location. thanks Steve

hey guys. im in need of a 240z hatch. preferably not rusty or bent. dont need the glass, lock or hinges. just a bare hatch. brisbane or newcastle area preferred as i can pick up from either spot. ive just realised ive put in the wrong spot. can a mod please shift it.?

ok guys, so the sill panels and quarter panel patches rocked up today from Tabco. first impressions are quite good, look to fit up well with all the right bits in all the right spots. very happy so far to take this route. ill post up some pics tonight if anyone is interested.

welcome mate. wow, what a nice car to get given to ya!!!! your one lucky son-of-a. does it even need a restoration, looks pretty nice in the pic

i jst got a quote for around 500 for 2 full length sills, 2 bottom front quarter patches, and 2 lower front rear quarter patches. it was around 130 bucks for shipping. he said they can bandsaw the sills in half to make em shorter for cheaper postage.
-
id be keen on getting a set plus a couple of extra bits. if we can get a few sets but keep it under $1000 might work out ok.
-
being a rural town, things dont often end up cheaper. besides, i dont just want the profile of the sill, i want the ends aswell that go in behind the front guard and rear guard. thought it maybe better getting them from o/s at the same time as some other parts like seat upholstery and other interior bits.
-
Hey guys, im thinking about ordering some full length sill panels from the states. they are the full end to end types, not just a section with no ends. i figure these will be better to use in my case. they are only about 100 dollars a pop, but shipping is in the region of 100-170 dollars. has anyone used them (Z Specialties) before? i just cant seem to find these particular sills here in Australia so im thinking shipping them over is the only way. also the reproduction vinyl seat covers??? anyone used em and are they the goods? Steve

just rolled the zed into the garage!! havent felt this good in ages. bit cramped in there now with the 1200 but i can live with that. first things first, it will be stripped and taken back to bare metal to see what lurks beneath. looks pretty good though, with a tiny bit of rust bubbling through. im sure the rear panel above the taillights might be stuffed too. needless to say, im so stoked. everyone, meet my '71 240z #1404

WOOOT! wednesday is the day i become a zed owner again, unless a major catastrophe occurs, im totally drippin now. is it just me or is it the best feeling knowing one will possess such a thing!

Stinkbug replied to XRQTR's topic in Business Directory + Links
man thats a nice car, not totally sold on the carbon fibre wrap but still gives me wood. im liking the carbied rb26/30 though. how hard would it be to pass a carbied motor like this on our aussie roads? -
thanks guys, picking it up on tuesday, gotta make room in the shed tomorrow. poor little 1200 will be put on hiatus for a bit while the zed will take centre stage. ill post some pics then. although i only signed up yestiddy, ive been reading stacks of posts here over the past week. recognise a few lads from the 1200 forums too. man im excited to be in amongst it once again......
