Would a lowly Mazda owner be welcome at this get-together I have submitted an application to participate at the HRCC Historics at Warwick over the weekend of the 13th & 14th July. Currently this is the published entry list http://www.motorevententry.org/site/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=25&eventId=112 cheers Peter

Hi Dave, Must say you have much bigger balls then me because I must confess that I was lifting off at the end of the PI straight and coasting around corner 1 as my car felt very unstable coming into that corner, but I did enjoy the back part of the circuit greatly. I also agree with your comment about regularity, for me at PI and also at Mount Panorama in 2010 doing a regularity event at both venues with 50+ other competitors on the track with some at PI aiming for sub 2 second laps it was the closest thing to real door to door racing, without being "racing". At Mount Panorama even with the 3 speed auto still fitted my car was reaching 200k coming down Conrod Straight before I started lifting off, that was fast enough for me without a roll cage. I thought the 6 hour team event at PI was excellent, but it was a shame that half way through the rain started to bucket down. Also we ran it with each team member having around 10+ minutes session before handing over to the next team member. Bloody Lee earned our team a 10 lap penalty even before the event started by going under 1:50 during practice.

All the required information can be found at this web address, and entries close on 1st February. I have sent my entry in for both days and my son-in-law is doing the try session on the Saturday. http://www.hrcc.org.au/pdf/supregstttsprnints2013.pdf Cheers Peter -

There isn't any age limit as long as the car is able to pass "Scrutineering" and comply with the points listed under "Eligible Vehicles" in the Event Regulations. Cheers Peter -

I am interested, could you get a information pack to me? I guess that you will also need to get a CTP extension certificate for the both days? Cheers Peter -
The entry fee for the Morgan Park Super Sprints 2013 is $220.00 up front then going on the 2012 cost it is $85.00 per session ($70.00 entry fee and $15.00 transponder hire) for a two day event. Yes you also have the option to do practice on the Friday at a cost of $30.00. I don't suggest that they need to join the Z Car because the requirement is to be a member of a CAMS affiliated club, any club as long as it is CAMS affiliated. CAMS Level 2S licence for the year is still not a bad option if you intend to do several sprint session over the year. I attended a HRCC event at Norwell on the 23rd September and they required a minimun of a Level 2S licence and the cost for the one day event was $120.00 plus you had to belong to a CAMS affiliated club, so I consider that the cost to compete at Morgan Park is very resonable. I have attached a copy of the information sheet I received regards the Morgan SS 2013. Cheers Peter

If you are looking for some track experience why not lodge an "Expression of Interest" for the Super Sprint Series up at Morgan Park Raceway, Warwick for the 2013 season. They run two series "A" and "B" which are really the same but a different group of competitors on different dates, there are 4 events over the year for each group (A and B). They have already sent out invitations for competitors and have set a closing date of the end of this month. Great track and a great group of fellow competitors, the really only "must have" requirement apart from a car is a CAMS Level 2S licence, which can be had by getting on the CAMS website and filling in the form. My car is very much stock and I have a great time up there, never really set outstanding times but have tremendous fun. Check out their website at http://www.morganparkraceway.com.au/supersprint.htm

Thinking of coming along, but still undecided. Maybe, maybe not! Cheers Peter

Well my thoughts on the event are:- Even though the track is very flat it is still quite tricky, there were a few who had an off track experience at turn 3 and I nearly had one at turn 7 which is where the start and finish line is, this turn is very long and sweeping so it needs to be treated with a deal of caution. There are no carports and the competitor area is quite restricted. All the competitors there on the day seemed to enjoy the event, main complaint was the time spent sitting in the car waiting for their turn to have a run, because shaded areas are very limited. Regards the other competitors, all were very friendly and there was a very interesting range of vehicles, most were quite modified, track vehicles. But there was also a group of less modified street cars. I believe that the number of competitors was excessive, 96 were listed but several were no shows so in all there were about 90 vehicles. A better number would be around 70 and also each session could be up to 5 or so laps and not the 3 laps we had at the HRCC meeting. Main point it was a good event for newbees and for testing cars before a big event elsewhere. I would be happy to do it again, good close track, any track time is worthwhile. Cheers Peter

The Northeners are coming South, WARNING Will Robinson, WARNIG!
peterrx5 replied to dat2kman's topic in Racing Your Car
As mentioned by David, a huge thanks to all those who willingly gave up their time and came along to help, and a special big thanks to Robert Wilson and Michael, without who's help we would have been lost. I had a great time, the car ran better then I could have hoped, but I didn't show it's true potential because I was rather unsettled after a big loose on turn 4 during a practice session. Just starting to settle down during my second session on a dry track when the skies opened up and it remained like that for the rest of the time I was on the track. On the dry track I was able to maintain my nominated lap time of 2 minutes 30 seconds but on the wet track and continues Yellow Flags and Safety Cars, times were impossible. Would really love to run on the circuit again but without the rain. Great event, excellent competitors and everyone was so friendly and helpful. Maybe next year if we are participants we may achieve a placing in the first 25. The most heard announcement was " Could the Driver of car 14B please report to the control tower with his licence and pants down for a good beating :'(" Cheers Guys, love your track, shame it is not a little further North. Also thanks to Sean for his interest in my sweet old girl. Kind Regards Peter -

I have been talking to Greg but it is looking like work committments will stop him from participating, and I have been trying to get interest from other club members but without success. All the hard work has been done, if we don't get another driver we will run with a 4 car team. Cheers Peter
