Rust proof the hell out of it and good for another 30 yrs, nice work BTW.

I’ve built a few! But serious if you want to stroke a motor and rev the thing hard go with a billet unit good rods and pistons the list goes on and on 20-30k. Why half build something only for bragging rights, it’s money better spent on chassis and suspension mods both of which Zeds are wanting.

Air con! No thanks if I wanted a modern car I’d use my daily, as for ecu and the link u posted they won’t make any more power. 400 hp in a flimsy and light car is plenty, trust me.

It’s an older Autronic unit, still works well. Considering a N/A build in future, in two minds of thought!

I would spend extra dollars on the modded RB 30 crank, the diesel cranks are ok for low revving turbo(6500rpm) engines but let’s face it if you want N/A engine that is a torque monster and revs hard then no . just my 2 cents worth.

Here’s a few more shots. The handling up grades courtesy of Stewart Wilkins, full length chassis rails, big improvement and bracing around sill to chassis rail /TC rod mount plus up to chassis horns, these cars as u know are piss week as they have little to no A pillar and flex like rubber.

Nice to see you still have your Zed.

Very nicely put Paul, a real no BS interview. Car is amazing.

No mate when you put up on this site then it is open for all comment, thats how it works, we all get informed in such a way. I Would hate to see someone with no experience try an take on such a Titanic re-float and get burnt.

I am sorry but you are selling a title of a car not a car, to revive a car in this state to mint would cost north of $80000, that is very generous probably 100k. I would recommend you part it out and save some poor bugger the financial misery that it will bring. If it were a rare number or a special then it may warrant an $8k price tag but not this one.

Not entirely true, diagnostic gear is very light weight and not that expensive. Not many worshops working on new cars do much more than the basics, anyway I thought he mentioned his 260z, as basic as they come!

So pleased to hear that it's just not here in Australia that we have dodgy builders, I do feel your pain Allan.

If all is equal with regard to bore diameter, CR ect, then the piston and rod weight HP gains are BS. It may spin up quicker but power is not made that way. The engine is a heat pump, the more VE the engine is and the higher the pressure can be had inside the cylinder (i.e. highest CR for given fuel used and state of tune) is how more power is had, if only it was that easy! Leave it be and just freshen the engine to OEM specs.

Lurch you are correct in the 88 versus 89 mm statement as I have built many L 28 particularly turbo engines, of which cylinder pressures will be usually higher, so I run a max of 88 mm, my biggest concern is when the wall thickness is at its thinest on the thrust sides versus the pin boss sides as the cylinders are co-joined on pin sides proving much more resistance to flex an ballooning, that said it is always the job of a good engine builder to check, check and check again. Yes the RB cranks are very nice fast spin up items, a light flywheel and low inertia clutch with bring the engine on song very quick.

Pity about damage to your car but lets not call our native wildlife vermin please, yes they can be in abundance but they are unique, my idea of vermin are introduced species, women and child abusers but not our native wildlife. We all need to tread a little more carefully on this good earth.

Why you shouldn't buy anything from Edward "Scissorhands" Lee

The upholstery over the shock towers is abysmal, tail light trim off. WTF, I like to see good money fetched for a zed but hell that would build at least 3 ground up resto's, tell him he's dreamin!.
