    Zed at sandown

I notice you removed you wipers. Weight reduction, wind resistance or some other benefit?
  2. I'll swap that 240z for my Toyota Starlet....he he
  3. you don't need salted roads to see a zed like that. Any early zed not garaged religously and / or in a coastal area couls easily look like that. I had to replace metal in areas of my 240z that looked just like that. Mike, You know what I mean.
  4. Yeah I agree. But I'd start with a slightly lower offer first maybe $1500. Mine was $600 but was full of rust had a lot of work to even get it to the stage that one seems to be at. I wouldn't go over about $3000 for it. Just wondering why the preference for the 260z?
  5. it is grea. But what about the rust around the fuel cap and the crack in the A pillar???
  6. how could you not like an RX7 it is such an obvious 240z knock off and thats a good thing. How else can you get that sort of shape from something made in the 80s?
  7. sometimes these forums remind me of an AA meeting....or should that be a ZA meeting......Hi My name is Greg and I have three zeds. Its been 12 months since my last purchase. My mean wife won' let me have anymore (queue sound effect of uncontrolable sobbing)
  8. sounds like a song "Black and Gold" la la la
  9. just replaced my 3.8 Vs with a 1.3 Toyota Starlet......No regrets what so ever!!!
  10. I am interested in the rear brakes if the car is a series 2. Let me know when you'll be there and I'll come up to look.
  11. what year was the car and does it have the rear brake calipers?
  12. I realised the other day the EFI plenum I have on my L28 in my 240z is smaller than the plenum on my 280zx. Anyone got any thoughts on the result this would have? I have a spare one in the larger size but I son't want to swap it all over if it isn't going to have a benefit. Let me know.

    240Z Engine Prices

it is usually true. its because the air entering the intake is more dense. When it ignites it needs to take up more volume thus giving more power on the piston. The multiplication factor would be different for every car though. I think it would only be around 5% Shame its not the reverse....I want more power when its safer to use it
  14. You purchased the wrong bonnet then. They offer two types one that uses the original hinges and one that is a pin on (for motorsport). How much will you want for the bonnet you got?
  15. So much for that addiction
  16. yup thats me. I was kinda hoping it was an after market ECU. Always on the lookout for one. Hope the engine gets you the $$$ you are after.
  17. There are three guys I know of that are long time zed owners in Lismore. Rob, John and Lee. They are all mature guys. I don't think any of them are on forums. They all compete at Morgan Park Sprint series. Their zeds are track cars so you probably won't see them on the streets.

I agree with the comments. I am the first person to admit I was a useless driver at 20. Once I had 3 accidents in one week (I was working way too hard and was over tired). But I haven't had another accident since. I would say this though. Years and experience can be gained the long way. Or you can short cut the circuit by getting defensive driving lessons and getting out on the track as much as possible. Its one thing to know how to drive a car under normal circumstances, any schmuck can do that. When most people get into trouble is when they are surprised by something, they over-react and wonder why the car acted in unexpected ways. Get a car on a track and take it to the limit and even past the limit. It is a sure way to learn how to handle a car and what to do if you encounter a surprise. Also I'm no prude. I speed as much as the next person. But I drive to the conditions. Speed is for the open road. Running red lights, tailgating, lane jumping, show boating etc are sure ways to scrap a car and maybe a life. OK Now who is sounding like a Mum
  19. I did buy a pair of FTO seats at one point. Started to jig up the mounts and gave up. They would have fitted nicely but the orginal rails could only be removed with half the seat frame and the original mounts are not level.

    240Z Engine Prices

here here. I don't mind the idea of a conversion but the cost spirals quickly out of control unless you can do a lot of it yourself. The ECU is the biggest hurdle. Long live the L28! Anyway outright power is not the be all and end all. There are so many other mods that give more bang for buck.
