agean....your not trying to use my engine as a gunie pig are you? I read this can cause severe engine damage....ha ha Ill give it a go in the lab and get back to you all:-)

OK, long time since posts, I have been away a bit. I have replaced all elec parts, rotor, plugs, leads dizzy cap and plugs. In addition I have run decoke through the car. The timing is set and the idle is wound back. It has made a big difference but still does it occasionaly. I think the "carbon in the cylinder hypothisys is correct". Great advise from all, I am very appreciative but it looks like I will pull the head off and give it a clean up......gives me something to do at least. And yes it is an elec dizzy.

Gents, the car is still registered and I transfered the rego from another NSW guy so no prob there. Your advise is a relief as the guys at the mechanics shop told me it was a big issue. I was skeptical to say the least as the car was regoes, is regoed and the numbers match. Still would like to get a blank and put it on. regards, Tim

Hey all, to put it bluntly.....my Z doesn't have a complience plate. All the numbers match, i.e: car and rego but I think the guy who sprayed it lost it!! Is there an issue with this? And if so what can I do? can I get a blank and put the numbers in it? Tim

All done, Coil changed, TDC checked physically, its now at 5 degrees. incidently the vacume advance isnt working so ill get a new one. Am currently running the equivilent of ATF through the system, just a little scared about what ATF will do to the carbies. I spoke with Stewart Wilkins and he reckons I should just wind the idle right back...so Ill do that today. If this doesn't work ill try the ATF. thanks, Tim

I live in SYD and if it is an F54 block I will gladly take it off your hands.....pick up this saturday...possibly this wednesday if its in the right location in SYD and for the right price. If its an E88 head all the better. my number iz zero four 3 8 then one 8 two and finally zero 97. regards, Tim

hmm yeah just scoping the scene. I can get one else where for about $800....that seems the going price....thtas retail so I thought a private sale would be a fair bit less. All good though thanks for the input. regards, Tim

Ok all good advice, Ill TDC physicaly. The plugs are carboned too. The secondry winding in the coil isnt reading the correct ohmage either. The primary seems fine. Ill change the coil. Check TDC and then........repost. Regards, Tim
