  1. tentativly sold.
  2. OK for all of the non believers out there. I just spoke to Andrew from CVAP and he said he put all new bearings and seals in it. He also said that to get the combo to fit he put in a VL main shaft which means the s13/14 combo can fit onto the shaft. the Datsun boxes have the same external sizes as the VL boxes so this means the box I have for sale is essentially a rebuilt skyline box with z casing. "Why do that?" I hear you say....well: The gears are much stronger than the standard z boxes. New parts are easier to come by. It has a double sync on second which means it can take more grief. Finally the ratios are 3.25:1 for 1st unlike a 260z box which is 3:1. So all of this combined makes it a damn good box for $800. As a side note he said he does Box rebuilds...so for anyone else in Vic that wants one done contact him by the CVAP website.
  3. the man who built it is Andrew VIBERT of Central Victorian Auto Parts (CVAP) in Shepparton.
  4. "1st - Spell Check.. If your 100% confident you could give a warranty, but I doult your that confident." spell check...got it.....maybe you should do the same I "doult" you did it ha ha About the box. I would be hesitant to warranty it because I can't be 100% certain of someone elses driving style. They may crash through gears and drop clutches....I am confident of the box performing as it should but not so confident that I could guarantee it against others driving or their installation of it etc. I would be open to providing a warranty after the first installment against it working and against gears and bearing not breaking in the short term. However anything longer that a month or so and I would be getting a bit sketchy. Either way a good suggestion and am very open to negotiation. I have emailed the guy I got it off for receipts and am waiting out. Like I said above I will just put it in my car and sell the 260 box out of that....which I know is good. We all take risks when we buy stuff on these forums and I have not had a bad experience with anyone here ....yet.
  5. no sorry, I bought if off another guy who had the work done in melbourne...I was planning on putting it in and selling the 260z box out of the car but want the cash more than a new gearbox.... I highly doubt it is stuffed.....what was wrong with your last box? Was it stuffed from the outset or did it break after a while. I am 100% confident that this box is good.....dont know what I can do for you really... If I dont sell this it'll go in the car and Ill sell the box out of it...justa pain in the ass having to chahe a g box... Tim

  9. Reconditioned 240/260z gearbox for sale. It will fit straight into a Z with no modification. The internals of thegearbox are an R32 skyline/VL Commodore/200SX 5 speed configuration with a double synchro on second gear. Built by an ex Nissan Australia racemechanic when Nissan was something in Oz. Apart from that I dont know much more about it. Hasn't been used at all. This thing is a sweet gearbox and will present you with no problems. Consider buying a used 260z box ($400) then rebuilding it ($400-$600), but do it with trick bits you might be lucky to pay under $1200. I need $800 from this. All standard ratios...I believe. Tim Genuine sale, just getting rid of stuff.
  10. yeah loui it is....bit of work gone into it however... Im looking at consolidating my stuff as I might be moving soon. Tim
  11. $250 for all three items; Thats the block, head and engine stand........ I am in randwick.....I thought that was in my profile on the left but its' dissappeared. Tim

  13. Steve-o, you are right in both senses. The true word is 'harmonic resonance' and it refers to the natural frequency of something. Like when you hold a rope and whip it back and forward it creates a wave. The rope has reached harmonic resonance. Other material will only create a solid wave at certain frequencies...like running your finger around a glass and making it sing. So removing material from a rotating mass has two aims: 1. To reduce the rotational inertia (i.e: make it easier to accelerate) like a lightened flywheel, and 2. Balance the rotating mass, this is what stops/reduces the vibration which consequently reduces the likelyhood of reaching harmonic resonance, which in some cases can be catastrophic. Tim
  14. Gents, all good feedback...less the 7400rpm suggestion . It sounds like I could live with 4.1:1 as I have 16s with 50 series tyres. Since I am have this car for fun an not for day to day driving I think the "who cares its only money and fuel" factor comes into play. So if you see a lime green 240 cruising around at 30km at 6000rpm...its probably me!! I knew it was a how long is a piece of string question however I am impressed with the quality of the responses and can now make a sound decision. thanks Tim
  15. Hey guys, What is a good diff ratio? And how long is a piece of string? Some background: L28 with tripple DCOE webbers. Standard 260z gearbox. I Don't go over 130km/h. I dont want to rev the crap out of the car when cruising on the highway. But on the flip side want the best acceleration. IS 4.1:1 too high? Thanks Guys, Tim
  16. hey mate, any chance you can still get these plates? regards, Tim
  17. pm sent re R200 LSD
  18. yeah Warren is on holidays I think. BTW they are about $300 not $150. I bought one off him about 6 years ago...time has slipped away from me and I tried to get one the other day and he said they were closer to $290 now. Warren can get anythin gyou need however........he will likely send the wrong parts or take about 4 weeks to get the parts to you after several reminder calls. Tim
  19. Guys, yeah thought that would be the case...either way I thought there may be a magical fit from a 180b or 1600 that may work. Look s like Ill go the cut and shut option. YeaH that would be real good if you could come by. I am struggling with the fuel line set up! Dont know what way to do it. I will PM you soon as I am busy on sat but free on sunday!! Tim.
  20. Hey guys, I have just installed my tripple webber setup with cannon manifold however the linkage that goes from the firewall to the manifold pinion is far to long. From the end of the bent piece (carby end) to the plate piece (firewall end) is 266mm. To make it fit I need one that is 191mm ish. If anyone has one and that they are willing to part please PM me. If this doesnt work Ill get it cut and weld it back together. thanks, Tim
  21. Yeah what a great post. Just to take this on a slight tangent. With a stroker what are the best conrods? I have been reading FJ20 conrods and L14 conrods......is it worth the hassel? regards, Tim
