  1. a mate had similar problem with his zed he changed the moustache bar bushes, then thought it might have been the diff backlash as it happened on acceleration and deceleration and still the noise was there problem ended when he installed new bolts that mount the moustache bar to the body - i think the bolts can get flogged out with wear ?

  8. was talking to a guy that has heaps of cars in his backyard - valiant ute, old holdens, jags and early fiats etc - and he goes on to say that he needs to sell them all because he is planning to move to tasmania. he found out that i was into zeds and he offers me a 2 seater 260z that has no rego but its a complete car and a good solid base for a project (not that i need more !!) done the deal loaded the car onto the trailer and paid him the money while tying the 260z onto the trailer he asked if i had room for more cars and that he has another 240z stored at his friends place around the corner as he had run out of room where he is - he didnt want to sell the 240z but since i was into them he might as well give it to a good home. went around there to check it out and there it was early chassis # car with factory wing mirrors, E31 head - engine matching numbers, dual choke console etc needless to say i ended up cleaning him up of all his zed cars and parts the early # car is running L28 F54 block and P90A head and has the matching number L24 and E31 head as spare parts (supposed to be still ok when replaced with L28) few rust spots etc but nothing unusual about zeds so now i have 3 240z and 1 260z 2 seater lucky i have big sheds to store them all in ... will post pics tommorrow of the two newly aquired cars

  12. $1200 seems like its worth the money - jump in!!! http://carsales.com.au/used-cars/private/DATSUN/240Z/details.aspx?R=6716855&Make=DATSUN&__Ns=pCar_PrivateSpecialFlag_Int32%7c1%7c%7cpCar_ImageCount_Int32%7c1%7c%7cpCar_LastModifiedDate_DateTime%7c1&Model=240Z&__N=4294966615%200%201216%20834%20285%20257%204294966408&State=All%20States&distance=25&silo=1003&seot=0&Cr=7&__Nne=20&trecs=8&state_id=0&__sid=11C62BD41F07
  13. i think there are lots of variables. this are my values for a 2 seater z parts car: 2k-3k registered car with original paint: 5k-8k car with a good respray and generally tidy 10k-14k full rotisserie type rebuild: 15k-25k (maybe more depending on mods) I guess it all depends on the buyer - gone are the days that you could buy good 240z for 2k-5k personally I have gone through a rebuild already and at the moment dont have the time to do the same thing again so the idea of buying something "already done" is attractive I can understand that some people would also consider what other cars they could own instead if they are going to pay top money for a z point of the thread is i guess to see if people are willing to pay for the cars that have had full rotisserie type rebuild or are people more inclined to buy rough cars and go through the process themselves as time and money permits
  14. just out of interest as per the subject: what is the most you would you pay for a 2 seater this is for either a 240z or 2 seater 260z still with L series engine no special models (HS30-H etc etc) just a base model rebuilt really well is around 20K too much? I know that it cost more than that to do a good rebuild, but just wondering what are buyers willing to pay?
  15. you done well, i dont think you will regret the swap.
  16. Do the swap - a 260z can be made into a good daily driver S30/S31 > Z31
  17. hi paul, out of interest how much did you let the silver car go for? cuong
