lol. I remember going for a spin around Bathurst in Mum's Nissan Prarie when I was a little tacker. Going down conrod, the highway patrol had 3 or 4 commodores pulled over because they'd been busted speeding around the place. That was ages ago, they'd probably have more of an eye on the place these days.

Thanks Rod. The one I've used, you just brush on and leave to dry and don't need to remove it. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get it off again using some metho, grease remover and some scrubbing. The bottle says that you can just prime over the top of it, so I might just wire brush it back a bit. Should work. Thanks.

Yeah, I'd agree, that's a 5 speed gearbox. Good luck with the conversion mate.

Sounds like your clutch is worn out mate, if it starts to slip then you need to replace it quick. Sorry, can't really help with gearbox as I don't know the going price for one. I'd say rebuild it, unless you can find a cheap one. That way you'll have a gearbox which shouldn't need pulling apart for a while, again, it depends on price and what money you have available to spend on it. Cheers, Rob

Yeah, I read their website. If I end up using POR15 then it might not adhere very well as I've already applied a rust coverter compound to the car. Have to think about it some more Cheers.

lol. Hmmm, thanks for that mate, didn't realize fish oil would go stinky.... Found out that POR15 shouldn't be applied over any "rust coverter" products. So that's basically me out. lol. I got stuck into the rusty spots on the weekend with rust coverter. haha. Oh well, might be able to brush it up with a wire brush and paint over... or try one of the other products. lol. We'll be waiting for that update Thanks for that. Think I'll run with the POR15 on all the interior bits and pieces, people seem to have a very positive view of it. Even if it's $80/L, that's a lot cheaper than having to pull the car apart to cut out bits and weld in new bits further down the track. I was looking at fishoil in the shops today, it's a bit cheaper than POR15 from what I saw. Is there much of a difference in rust prevention between the two? Thanks for the help!

Yeah, I have to admit, image shack doesn't seem to be the fastest service around However, I just had a bit more of a look around on imageshack to see if there was some way around your problem. I found that they have a toolbar you can download that allows you to upload images from a website, or multiple images from your computer. Thanks for the replies! I have a few more questions. So, from what I've read, I take it Penatrol is just for 'refreshing' old paint jobs? Not sure as of yet whether I will be taking it back to bare metal as I like the red it currently has on it. Would I be better off using a good 2 part epoxy primer, tectyl, or are they virtually the same? What about the interior? Is POR15 the better product to use? Or again, are they all the same? What I'm worried about is, I've found the beginnings of rust along the welds where new sills were put in. This is the sort of thing I'm hoping to eliminate or minimize for as long as possible. Especially in those places where, once I put the interior back together I won't be able to see (ie: inside of rear 1/4 panel). I was thinking of just painting these places with a brush as it would be easier to paint than with the gun (I imagine). Will this do? or is there a better option? Cheers guys, Rob

Wow, I would have been very interested in one of the 2 seater 260's and used the parts out of my 2+2 in the 2 seater. If only this had have popped up before I bought my new 2+2 shell Don't think mum would be very impressed if I parked a 3rd Z in the backyard haha Good luck with the sale mate, think this has to go up as the find of the year doesn't it?

haha, not sure. But a couple of blokes in my other car club have done it with great success. It's also useful for manifolds etc where it's not really worth getting them done by a mechanic but you still want it to seal properly, rather than solely relying on the gasket to seal it up. Probably useful when you don't have too much warpage, otherwise you'd have to use a coarser grit first and then come back with the final few cuts with a finer grit paper. Just thought I'd pass it along. I'm going to be using it when I get around to rebuilding my engine as I don't think the head will fit into Dad's lathe. Cheers, Rob

G'day guys, I'm going to begin painting my shell sometime in the near future (haven't sprayed before, haven't got gear yet). But I was wondering what you guys recommend for rust prevention in terms of an undercoat for the body? Also is there anything I can apply to the hard to reach sections of the body (ie: inside of rear 1/4, inside of sills and around that area) which would hopefully prevent rust from starting in the usual places? You can do that by putting sandpaper over a coffee table, put a little kero over the top to lubricate and rub away!! It may take a fair while (and a few beers ), but it will eventually get the head as flat as a tack and will do it on a very tight budget! Cheers, Rob

$900 is rediculous! lol. Any mechanic should be able to change the gasket. There should be a mechanic in Sydney that will do it for a lot less than what you were quoted. Should just grab the yellow pages and look up some more mechanics. Or, you could do it yourself. It's way cheaper and should only take a few hours. There shouldn't be any problems once the gasket is changed.

I've heard this type of rego is just a pain in the backside. Unless you are purely using it as a weekender and aren't going to drive it at any other point in time.

Not sure about most of your problems, but there is a discussion on how to restore your dash yourself if you are willing to go to that effort. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php?topic=1618.0 As for parts, you could always try your luck with a want to buy post in the "wanted" section of the classifieds, someone may have some spares, as long as you are prepared to pay for postage of items.
