  10. Thanks to Cam for checking his out - it appears later models had a much shorter linkage so it won't quite work. Still looking. Really would like to get this thing on the road! Picture attached

  17. Welcome Wayne! Check out the events section, the Melb guys will be meeting soon.
  18. I think the answer is - depends on who's opinion it is and what type of modification it is. For example if I'm looking at replacing the exhaust system of course I'll seek out others' opinions to learn from their experiences and get the right product for my car. I think you'd be mad not to. However, I don't care that the guy at the service station reckons my car would be better with a turbo and 18" rims.
  19. I'll add a few of my comments, happy to stand corrected - Green colour of the first car doesn't quite look right for 907 Racing Green available in 1970 - Should the steering wheel silhouette look slightly different for RHD/LHD cars? - Silhouettes of the seats in the Z432 and Z432-R should be different, i.e can't see them at all really since they are small bucket seats. I'm not sure about the BRE or rally cars. - Some of them seem to have 2 interior door locks? - Some of the rear qtr badges are in the wrong spot (e.g. Z432) - Japanese black fender mirrors look kinda too big and bulky - Why is there a 1974 260Z and a 1974.5 240Z? - I think the dual exhaust of the Z432 & Z432-R is not high enough, and doesn't look like two pipes - Front spoiler on the UK car doesn't look right to me - A subtle detail but if you look at some photos you will notice that the body hip-line crease doesn't continue in front of the front wheel arch - Windscreen wipers on the 240Z-G were black - Shape of the overfenders on the 240Z-G cars, and the rivet positioning and size doesn't look right - Alan might slap me over the head for this but didn't the 240Z-G receive a rear spoiler from factory?
  20. Very interesting article... very true about the baby boomers and current generation. Great news for us young'uns Gav. What I'm really interested in is what will happen to all the current crop. What a nightmare it would be to try to restore a modern car. Maybe that will actually drive demand into older cars...
  21. I decided to look at the fuel aspect of this since I wasn't getting anywhere with electrics. Before checking fuel pressure, wanted to see if fuel was getting into the carbs when accel pressed. Took off the zip-tied filters and tried one - it sprayed. Silly me didn't check all of them, but will have to do that next time. I put some carby cleaner down them and had another go at starting - worked! Voltage at battery when running was 14V OK I don't have a timing light yet, but thought I'd fiddle with the timing anyway and see what we could get. I turned the cap CW to advance it some more and the idle increased (is this normal?). Seemed to run smoother so took it for a drive. No good - possibly worse than before. So I went the other way. It was a bit rough on idle (and even had a backfire then died on me) but driving results are GOOD. Not great, but good. I have no idea what the timing is of course but it's as far back as the adjustment will let me go. Here's a vid. Sorry it's not very exciting. But you can see how the idle gradually decreases and backfires at 0:42 Is this fixed? DUnno, will see how it starts again when cold. Once started I'm happy to take it to someone who can properly tune it to run at its best.
  22. Yeah it was a Cyclops system, which is just a rebranded Dynamco. It's cranking ok but still can't quite start - as per this help thread! 240K was a beautiful car. Definitely "the one that got away!"
  23. Yep you're right Gav, it is likely from a 260Z. The option was available in early cars but seems only in Japan, where the button just had a small white dot on the end of it rather than the 'pass' lettering - which came with the S31/260Z.
