Anyone on this site want a hard to come by LSD 3.9 or 4.1?
zedevan replied to 620Z's topic in General Discussions
thanks for the info david, i'll get myself a force pull measurer thing and see how it goes, i'm thinking i probably dont have it tight enough so thanks for letting me know! meanwhile i'd recommend an lsd to everyone, awesome fun in the wet lol, it now behaves in the same way sorta that makes my bro's go kart fun, and the scary steering issues i've mentioned previously on long fast bends in the wet are completely gone although i dont really understand the link between the two as the wheels were/are never loosing traction but it no longer oversteers really badly at a certain point so i'm happy -
zr240 can get them made up at a bit under $150, i have one sitting here i plan to put on at some stage, but recently came across an s15 gt rear wing which i'd always wondered what they would look like on a zed and for the price it was i bought it its dam heavy compared to the orginal lip type things for 240's...it probably wont make its way onto my car for atleast a yr if at all as i've got enough other things to do for a bit it looks nice in my room so thats all that matters lol

http://www.viczcar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=49&start=0 in short i prefer sulios one now, but mayb its a case of liking what i dont have lol

i remember a link to this awhile back, bloody awesome job, after driving round in x's car i semi like the idea of a sunroof, and what a great mod to do to a car with an existing hole

differences between 240z and a 260z 2+2 ?
zedevan replied to tattoo_ink's topic in General Discussions
they are squares not diamonds...although they are diagonal squares so i guess they would still b called diamonds? my car has them on the towers, that verticle bit behind the seats and the trans tunnel -

zedevan replied to tattoo_ink's topic in General Discussions
i think its only the 74 260z that have the same size towers, but have a look, the difference is semi obvious once u know what to look for, would b nice if they fitted all of them as i know i'd like some diamond stitching! -

thanks for the tips i want to do motokhanas and my skills up, and just hack around in big car parks in the wet lol, but i can't think of any near by...i'm glad i bought it now and not after i have enough power to spin both the wheels around every corner the only issue i had when putting it in which i dont think i've mentioned is the pinion flange i belive its called, the one that connects to the prop/drive shaft was different to the one on the old diff, unfortunately although i noticed they looked a bit different i was in a rush at the time and since i thought it was just bolt in i just put it in and then had to take it back out and change them over, and they are done up dam tight...but atleast i learnt a lesson lol -

having never driven a car before with an lsd i'd have to say i'm very impressed with the difference it makes even when i havn't driven it that hard yet. it seems to be alot more responsive out of corners and take a different line though them, like turn sharper and around a different axis? mayb i'm imagining things.. anyway i was wondering what these diff's were as in 1 way, 2 way etc, here's the info on the differences between them off wikipedia. i always thought a 2 way ment it would lock the diff when changing down gears, so effectively de-accelerating -
the diffs in now i'll go back at some stage and put in a chain, so thanks for the info nato. on the bottom of the bar closer to the front of the car that holds up the diff i have a small plate (which i cannot see what it does) thats held on with two bolts, i was thinking of buying two longer bolts and connecting a chain on there as that way it will be easier to insure that the chain is tight, and that way the plate would b spreading the force on the chain across the bar a bit, where replacing the rubber strap with a chain it doesn't seem like you'd be able to get it as tight?
-
looks good, pity i dont have a welder, and have never welded anything in my life...lol, this is where the chain would come in handy for me, i'm wondering if the idea is to mount it to the two screws underneath the front bar thats under the diff
-
looks awesome, what did u do for mounts?
-
hmmm as sad as it is i'll just leave it for now, spent a good couple of hours on it tonight coz i'm an idiot  i didn't check if the flange's were the same off the front of the diff so had to take it back out and spend an hour or so bashing a lever to undo the nut that holds them on...but atleast i'm getting faster at taking out the diff, and i have all the tools out which is normally about the slowest part of the process for me
-
i would go look at the seats so i can answer u better but they are now under the house... i think its rougher in the middle bit, i always had covers on so i dont know...and then i think 240z's are different again? so mayb its dependant on the yr of 260 also?
-
yeah the rear sway bar is a pain to put back in huh, still have painful memories from doing the clutch lol, however it would b somehow possible to get to the screws i circled without taking the bar off? well i'm up for doing anything kind of modifaction thats going to help if its <$100 especially, where abouts did you get the thing from sco? i dont think i'm really going to have that big an issue as my car isn't really producing great amounts of power at all....and i want to put it back in this week, well asap really, just i didn't have a chance tonight as i worked late...
-
lol, the sad thing about that idea is that pictures my car so i've got nothign to drive really till its back together, although shouldn't take long now. had to wait for a hand to put the other diff in place but now i just need some time to do everything back up i guess those screws aren't that hard to get to with all the other stuff in place so i can just do it later on
-
in regards to the chain setup i'm thinking i may as well do this while putting in my new diff , just wondering if these are the screws you connect the chain too? i've tried looking at hybridz but the only link to a picture i could find didn't work...
-
i reakon sr24oz would b awesome, or rb26oz, pity in melb ur not allowed to have two letters, two number, two letters, and u can't have the number 0....plus would need the corrisponding engine lol when i have run out of other things to waste money on i think i might get some custom plates though

i just thought i may as well bitch and moan about the fact i still dont have my wheels with them not arriving on the last date i was told by ROH which was the 26th of april (was ment to b the 3rd of march i think, so before that date i was told it could be any day), which is basically a month after the first new set arrivial date they gave me of the 28th of march, since then they have ment to arrive about 3 times and havn't, but they gave me a much better update last week and said that this week would b it...and its not. i ordered the wheels on the 6th of december, knowning they wouldnt start being made till the 15th of jan, so i'd get them late feb early march. they stopped making the wheels at the start of feb as they thought they guy had done a runner, as i thought later on when i called to c how far off they were to find the company had closed. although even with this delay they have had about 10 weeks to manufacture wheels they claim take 5-6 weeks. all i can say is that they had better have a perfect surface finish...apparently the wheels aren't powdercoated which i'm a bit surprised at, although i'm sure they have a reason for this, i'm assuming its as they are only cast they dont want to heat them up? so to some degree now i'm wondering if watanabes are better value for money, but i'll be happy with these for hopefully longer than i've wanted for them for...so a pretty long time! i feel sorry for the vic roh guys though as they are nice helpful guys, and helped me get in contact with the shop again (which in a way doesn't make any sense as the reason they stopped making them was they coudlnt get in contact with him...) just i'm not to sure whats going on in their company! any ideas on what i should do? the only reason i care is if i'm defected for bald tires again i'm going to b annoyed that its because of them taking so long (although if i had the rims i'd prob be defected for them so...)

thanks for the details again craig, i've now paid for the 3.9, should have it next week. i'm debating if i should get it opened up etc like you did or just put it straight in? i know i dont really need an lsd but what i remember ages ago reading sprinter stuff is how the biggest change in driving characterists is to put in a lsd, not a more powerful motor, and i figure now's as good a time as any! -

are these mechanical? and 2 way? or ? and wouldn't a 4.1 rev higher than a 3.9 at a particular speed? as the wheels are doing one revolution per 3.9 or 4.1 of the driveshaft? or have i confused the hell outta myself? -

i'm interested in buying an lsd but no idea what ratio i'd want, as in i dont even know what ratio my car has in it...its a 76 factory manual car... is the ratio 1:3.9 or 3.9:1? i'm assuming 1:3.9? so the higher the number the more the engine has to rev for a certain speed? and therefore the better acceleration how much was it to get it to melbourne?
