Hi All,

I've been lurking on this site for many years and only now have a zed which is worthy of your attention so am only now making this intro.

I've met a few of you in person over the years, either for parts or at car shows or the club meetups in Brisbane.

My first zed was (mostly) burgundy '81 280zx named Captain Slide. We had a lot of fun together and I sold him to a mate before moving overseas.

A year later, when I knew I was on the way back to Oz is spotted a gorgeous silver '77 260 2+2 on ebay and got my parents to run over and collect it for me. That's right, I bought it sight unseen, off the internet, and I've never regretted it!

I kept him (his name is Winston) running as my daily driver for a couple of years (I was a student so not enough money to restore him) and found this forum very useful. One uni holidays I even upgraded to the vented hilux 4 pots.

I once again moved overseas but I would never sell Winston so he lay unappreciated under my parents house, covered in dust.

4 years later (2 years ago) I returned to Brisbane and Winston as a man of means, and finally in a position to execute my long-made plans!

So, over the last 2 years I've done the following work:

All new bushes

1 New frame rail (it was made of rust)

Height adjustable coilovers with konis from SW racing (sectioned struts)

R31 rear disc conversion

braided lines all round

Larger mastercylinder 15/16

RIDICULOUSLY wide tyres with zg flares fitted (yes, guards butchered)

Mandrel bent SS exhaust

I've also had an l28 built up from scratch.  It's not a 'no expense spared engine' but it should pull pretty hard. I'll find out in a day or so... the mechanic is putting it in today (if he has time...). We went for triple webers (40s) so it should sound nice too.

Here are some pics of the new engine:

Hi Lee,

its a shame when people join AFTER they have done the work.

We like to see the builds and discuss.

Also, try inserting the pic on the thread rather than putting up a link. (especially since it can be externally linked)

Click on the Mona Lisa above smiley face and put link between the 2 sets of brackets  ;)

I know I know... I'm always meaning to post but just never get around to it. Plus, I have no idea what I'm talking about. I do the drooling, mechanic does the tinkering :-)

I did try this initially but i kept getting broken links. I can't work out how to get the URL to insert into the image box (and I work in IT!)

Hi Lee

Good to see another Queenslander . I agree the sound of a Z with triples is hard to beat. If you're not busy on the 2 December some of us will be at Bribie Island for the QLD AUSZCAR X-MAS thing . Join us

I have a work Xmas BBQ but it's at Peachester, which is kinda near Bribie, so I'm wondering if I can drive up with you guys and then part company off to the work do?

I need to be there at noon, what time are you guys planning on leaving Brisbane?

Any pics of the car? Engine looks good. Are your photos on picasa? If so they should have a share link which will give you the URL for pasting into forums / blogs etc...
