  1. +1 on jesse streeter recommendation. Used him a couple of times and is a legend.
  2. Exchanged emails with TTT again - had asked if he stocked different stuff for the 280z - and learned something mildly interesting. I figured my allegedly taller 2+2 strut top height might be the same as for the 280z and asked if he stocked different parts accordingly. He said that a 280z strut brace is actually SHORTER than a 240z one because the added height brings the tops closer together. I would not have imagined that; in my head I just assumed 260z 2+2 and 280z would be wider than 240z.
  3. Yeah Peter, Gabriel is the guy I'm emailing. He said he couldn't confirm if it would fit a 2+2 and asked me to send him measurements. I guess there must be some extra thread on each end of the tri-bar fittings as suggested earlier so I think I'll just order them and if I can't get them fitted, Matty can take them off my hands (once I have of course measured how short they are)!
  4. Hey Matty you're not out of luck yet - it may not fit! Peter, thanks - I see they must have changed the design. Jason, what can I say? enlightening as always ;-) All I can think to do, is apply some geometry calculations. If peter can let me know the height of the strut top from the floor, and a 240z owner can let me know the height of their strut top from the floor, I can surely use some SOH CAH TOA, along with the distance between the strut tops, to calculate how much 'additional length' the tri bars would need... Would that work?
  5. So far I am encouraged by these responses! So the top bar will fit, and it seems the tri bars MAY fit however from what is being said is sounds like I will need longer tri-bars than would suit a 240z, on account of the strut towers being taller. Peter, do you have the T3 branded strut brace? If so, would you mind taking a measurement from the center of the mounting hole to the center of the floor (as per the pic at the top) so that I can tell T3 to just make me some bars that size? (sorry Matty!). Also, does anyone know how the bottom bracket (the blue bit) attaches to the floor? I'd check myself but don't have access to my Z at the moment. I assume if there are some holes already there on a 240z it would be unlikely I'd have the same ones on my 2+2 and I'll probably have to drill them myself. Anyone know? Thanks again all for your contributions, can't wait to post some pics of everything installed! Oh, and has anyone used the T3 C Pillar Support as per this pic and link and any ideas if a 2+2 has the same mounts? https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/240z/z-c-pillar-bar
  6. Errrrr just realised my car is at the shop and I can't do this... And they are holding my order until I send them the measurements... Does anyone (Lurch!?) have a 2+2 they wouldn't mind measuring?
  7. I emailed T3 and they said they weren't sure if it would fit, but they emailed me a diagram with measurements for me to fill in. I aim to do this tonight with the help of a measuring stick and some beers. So what I understand from these replies so far is that: The bolt pattern is most likely the same The distance between the struts is likely the same as any late 260z The struts themselves are taller than a 240 (so I'd need longer 'tri' bars). This being the case, the top part should fit. And if the bottom 'tri-bar' parts don't fit, Matty will buy them off me :-) Good so far?
  8. Interesting but doesn't answer any of my questions...
  9. Thanks for your replies gents. I've now bought the T3 units and if I need longer rack ends/inner tie rods I will reach out to SWM. Assume they wont be needed since I'm not running crazy camber. Can't wait till these bad boys arrive!
  10. Gents, I am looking to get a rear tri bar strut brace. Like this one: Trouble is, I have a 2+2 ‘Racing bus’ 260z (1977). No one specifically makes race parts for these, which is in itself a travesty since the 2+2 was designed for the true zed racer, one who needs to bring his pit crew with him to meets! Anyway, can anyone make comments as to: Is the shape of the rear strut top where the brace connects the same in a 2+2 as for a normal late model 260z/280z? Is the distance between them the same? Are they the same height from the boot floor? It would be great to get some definitive answers to this as I’m sure there are other bus drivers out there wondering! I have tried searching but it is difficult to narrow results down to include '2+2' as there are '2's on nearly every page! Thanks fellas – your counsel is always appreciated! Lee
  11. Ordered 2x RH thread from T3. Cannot wait till these bad boys arrive!
  12. All that said I am about to hit the 'buy' button on these T3 ones so if anyone has a set in Oz (or some other thing that will do the same job) and want to part with them, now is the time to let me know. Thanks, Lee
  13. I already have the adjustable LCAs and caster rods ready to install. I am taking it to the mchanic to have him instal and align. The only other thing I need to get is some kind of adjustable outer tie rod end so that my excessively lowered car with large wheels will drive betterer. It seems like the T3 one is better at doing this because I can't see how the SW one would reduce bumpsteer. I can't afford both either. Plus the T3 one is RED :-) Also I don't think they would be compatible with each other since the T3 one requires drilling.
  14. Hey Lurch, thanks for the recommendation. I contacted SWM (mentioning your referral of course!) and they have them for about $200 delivered express. But these are inner tie rods not outer tie rods, right? I am trying to reduce my bump steer, so these won't really work for that will they? Is that correct? Lee
  15. I've seen them as well Mossy, but they are over $523 AUD at today's exchange rate, whereas the T3 ones are only $196 AUD at today's rate. If anyone has a set for around the $200 mark I will buy them cause the car is booked in the shop in 2 weeks, and the T3 ones wont get here in time! I'll be taking it to the shop in 2 weeks anyway to have all the other adjustable bits - just trying to avoid taking it for a second time when I get the adj outer tie rods.
  16. Good links Mick. I've already read these two and in fact the reason I have a spare steering rack is because it is in fact attached to an entire spare x member I purchased with the intention of one day relocating the LCA mounting holes for this very mod! However, from what I've been reading, there is no advantage to moving the points AND getting adj outer tie rod ends and as such, I decided to go the adj tie rod ends instead of the redrilling since it seems easier, less fabrication (which I'd be paying someone to do) and also means I can adjust the positioning and am not 'locked in' to wherever I relocate the hole too. As for the SW Motorsport ones, I just emailed them asking for a price. They are usually pretty pricey but hopefully I am surprised as I'd rather buy in Australia from both a patriotism and speed of delivery perspective. I have made a WTB thread though in case anyone has some sitting on a shelf they want rid of.
  17. looking for something like these if anyone has a set in Oz please let me know. https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/260z/outer-tie-rods-datsun-240z-260z-and-280z
  18. Reminds me of that joke. What do you do when you see a disabled space man. Park in it man. If you didn't use jack stands that is! Jason I am having the full T3 setup installed at the same time with adj LCAs and caster rods. I have the RCAs already but I still get the bump steer and it of course changes the roll centre which I'm told is undersirable. Thanks for confirming about using the other rack though. I'll order the double RH thread kit and if I have a LH one on the existing rack I'll steal one from the spare. As for going back to standard in the future, I can't see why I'd do that. Is there something I should know? As always thanks for chiming in guys.
  19. Regarding dust, I was going to buy a rubber rose joint boot. Regarding jacks, yes, I have stands and am not that much of a n00b though appreciate the need to communicate the message just in case. Well done, Safety Man. I'll jack it up, using appropriate precautions, and see which way they go. I'm still leaning towards just ordering the 2xrh and canibilising the spare rack if it fits. Just for future proofing.
  20. Hi all, Apologies for the potentially dumb question. Just want some confirmation before I part with my $$$! I want to buy myself a set of adjustable outer tie rods so that I can correct my bumpsteer issues (lowered car, big wide wheels). I’m going to get the ones from T3 https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/240z/outer-tie-rods-datsun-240z-260z-and-280z but they come in two configurations, one with 1xLH and 1xRH thread, and one with 2xRH thread. It says to order the one that matches your inner tie rods. It also says that they stopped making the LH thread inner tie rods in the 80s, so anyone that has had them replaced since then (no idea – only bought the car in 2003) will most likely have the need for 2x RH configuration. 3 questions: 1. Does anyone know if there is a way that a mechanical novice such as myself, could determine the type I have, just by looking (I have a jack so can get under there easy enough)? 2. Would you recommend just getting the 2x RH so that if I ever need a new inner tie rod end in the future, it will fit my fancy new parts? 3. I have a spare s30 steering rack (complete). At least one of the inner tie rods on this rack MUST be RH thread (by my novice logic). This being the case, can I take the one of that and put it on (should one of the ones on my car be LH thread?)? I believe the spare rack is from a 240z, so I’m essentially asking if it will all bolt up the same (I have a 77 260 2+2), regardless of the origin of the rack and whether I use the LHS or RHS inner tie rod, so long as it is RH thread it will fit right?… Thanks for any guidance as always! Lee
  21. Hi all, I just bought one of these and they need to pre-sell 15 before they print them. That means 5 more! Oh... and there are only 15 hours left... http://teespring.com/emonkey_datsun It's a cool design and less than $20! BUY BUY BUY P.S: I am in no way affiliated with this site...and sorry if this is the wrong part of the forum. Lee
  22. Great pics as always Peter! I didn't get any footage except for this little bit of the practice session. Plenty caught on the gopro (including a spin!) if Peter can get it out of the camera
  23. ZCCQ could do to be a bit more progressive with their marketing however I am not privy to their risk posture with regard to member funds and making a loss. By the same token, forum users and ZCCQ members all have one thing in common - we all like old dattos! And in light of that everyone would be a little better off if we could dispense with the trolling and politics and work together to cross-promote without publicly bagging each other. I don't know about the history of this back and forward bickering but I know all involved would prefer the day was successful than not. NOW BEHAVE
