Hi guys,

 

I am z car owner from Brisbane and have loved zeds since I saw one in a parking lot back when I was at Uni.

So I bought a yellow 260z 2+2 back in the early nineties (sold it to my brother who proceeded to trashit). Anyway I replaced it with a Series 1 1970 240Z (No329-Orange). It is basically stock except the seats are reupholstered and there is a L26 up front.

Anyway I have recently purchased another Series 1 1970 240Z (No84-White) and want to restore and maintain it to stock condition. Amazingly it has only done 90000miles and there have been no changes to the car since it was purchased in 1970 exdcept the thermostat housing which is currently being changed back(I am now the second owner). I since have decided to join clubs and get the right answers.

 

These are great forums that a I am finding to be interesting and useful. By the way my first 240z will be for sale shortly. I am organising a safety certificate etc.

Regarding getting pics:

I am on the road for a few weeks so I will get some pics of the cars when I get back. I bought the white one after I saw a post here in a recent forum by gav240Z. You can view it there:

The pictures really don't do it justice. I have looked at alot of zeds over the years and have never seen one untouched (especially an early model) so I had to buy it - it even had the body colour code plate on the radiator support member. It was one of the first five cars shipped to QLD and the previous owner went to great lengths to get his hands on the white one as you could only buy them from dealers and all five were separated on delivery.

 

You may have guessed, I like a zed in original condition as there is so much customising out there you sometimes forget how it all looked when it started...especially the HS30 Series.

 

Wait a sec. I have apicture of the engine for the other car on this laptop. Notice anything missing? The mechanic (wanker) didn't fit the install the oil distribution tubes correctly after the rebuild. They came off...1 went to the sump the other sat peacefully in the corner. Went to another guy to get it sorted and it cost me another odd $1000 to get it right again.

Nice buy, i remember looking at that one and thinking it was a very nice starting block. What did you pick it up for if you dont mind me asking, PM me if you prefer, just outta interest and curiosity.

 

Yes look for info on forums, but dont take the plunge with cash untill you are 100% as alot of people on these types of forums are 16 yo with bugger all idea or have bugger all exposure to these cars and cant really offer anything concrete in their response, NO OFFENSE GUYS.

Just find someone that you are confident that knows their shizlick and get on good terms with them, most are happy to help out but have bugger all time with all their commitments, sound familiar anyone??

any Q's welcome, i have acces to 2 or 3 early s1 cars for verification info etc if  you need.

Thanks for the offer Nato,

Although this car (No84) has all the verification I need. The plastic is still sealed on the interior panels and sunvisors when it was packaged in Japan for shipping. It also has the original Owner's manual, warranty booklet, and nissan key sets that came with the car from Nissan Motor - It is as original as it gets.

 

I have put the car into the shop to get the bushes, rubbers, hoses replaced as they are dry and cracked. The suspension struts will also be replaced and the brakes overhauled but not replaced. It already has had plenty of interest just sitting at the mechanics - normally from the older guys.

 

I have also managed to get a complete Nissan parts list in PDF from when they translated it from microfiche to CD. It is for the S30 240Z/260Z 1969-1979. However I am currently looking for a thermostat housing for an S1 240z if you know of one anywhere.

The PDF doc is 51mb and 806 pages-too big to email the whole lot. Covers every part of a z down to the washer. I managed to get it because it is hard for Nissan to keep translating part numbers for specific parts on these old zeds. I am staying in Richmond, Melbourne this Sat-Tues so you could pick up a copy.

 

As for the thermostat. It looks like the attached pictures...

able to share it on limewire, torrents for an hour or so, depends how fast your connection is?

 

otherwise how bout i pay u for a cd to be burnt and posted?

 

ill have a look around for a similar housing, after top and bottom?

 

what sets this one apart? looks like most i have seen etc.

Isnt that just the standard thermostat housing?

Looks like the one I replaced a while ago....

Got it from either repco or nissan.

yea diddo looks like most of the ones i have on engines around the place.

 

ill have another closer look and probly grab one if youre interested, postage is all yours however, and i will send it through a courier at work so like 15$ from memory but ill confirm later.
