Stivva Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Hey guys, I have been rebadging my car with all new badges and I need two more to complete the image. I need a Fairlady Z badge for the dash, and the only one I can find doesn't post to Australia. I also need a a 70's era Nissan badge. The one I am chasing is a rectangle badge with Nissan embossed in it with (I think) horizontal lines both on top and below the word Nissan. I hope I get them them both new, so if you guys can point me in the direction of these two badges, that would be sweet. Quote
Stivva Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 https://www.thezstore.com I believe I found the dash badge here, just hoping they will ship it too me. I have just placed the order, but I am having no luck with the nissan badge. Quote
Riceburner Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Heaps of those Nissan badges on yahoo Japan for about $40. I searched under 'S30Z' Quote
Stivva Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 The nissan badge I am after looks like the one in this photo If you could link me to the location on yahoo japan, that would be sweet, there are about 100 pages of s30z items Quote
RB30X Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 I've got a few new round Z ones in that photo above if you or anyone is interested Quote
Stivva Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 Thanks mate, but I have new badges all round and am just missing the Nissan badge. Quote
Riceburner Posted August 6, 2012 Posted August 6, 2012 Yep those are the ones on yahoo Japan, I got one exactly the same. I'll keep an eye out for them when I'm searching next and I'll post the link. Quote
Riceburner Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Sorry Stiva. I had a look again last night and couldn't find any. Yahoo Japan is funny like that, I'm certain they'll reappear in a week or so as I had seen four or five of them. I usually search under 'S30Z' '240Z' '240ZG'. I make sure I keep my eyes peeled for them as I usually have a look a few times every week. Cheers, Gareth. Quote

bluerat Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Hey Guy's, bit off topic, but I've often wondered why Jap spec badges are in English, not Jap Script, Kanji? hhhmmm Quote
nizm0zed Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I think an asian linguist would be able to give a possibly good answer, but my theory is that the 'word' doesnt exist in their kanji. you often see english words within asian languages all the time, almost like its easier to adapt in the word that come up with the conversion into the older dialect. asian script is very old and virtually unchanged in all that time. Agno Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Could also be a cultural thing, I know in Italian the modern trend is to use English words in place of the manufactured Italian words for certain things because it is more posh or cooler Quote
Stivva Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Often words appear in Roman characters or Romaji purely because it is cool. There is nearly always a translation to Japanese, but it's like a logo to,have a word in English, it stands out, and reaches a larger crowd. Japanese unlike English is only a dominant language in Japan. Having things in English means it can reach an audience outside of Japan. What most people don't realize is that romaji is a style of writing in Japan and features in newspapers and where numbers are used. But so are Chinese characters. And if you were reading Japanese you are reading two types of Japanese, Chinese and romaji most if the time in one text. But as far as signs or badges go. Looks cool. Quote
Stivva Posted August 12, 2012 Author Posted August 12, 2012 Thanks for finding that badge for me too!!!! Quote
