Jz260 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Hey guys, somehow I have misplaced my engine dipstick and it has sprayed a decent amount of oil out the side so far. Just really hoping someone has a spare in Brisbane or somewhere between Brisbane and noosa that I could come collect before Sunday ( in another car ) Thanks in advance, James Quote

peter t Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Just checked the shed but sorry don't have one. Just wrap a piece of cloth around a bit of wire ensuring that neither can fall in the sump and that should get you out of trouble untill you can get the new stick. Quote
Riceburner Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Interesting topic for me too, I just went through my spares and I have three that are all different lengths, one L24 and two L28. I have just fitted a baffled sump with a capacity of 8quarts and after putting in 7.6L I only just saw it on the bottom of the longer L28 dip stick. Why different lengths? The high/low marks differed by as more than 500ml Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted June 29, 2012 Moderators Posted June 29, 2012 Gareth. Is there a difference in the length of the Dipstick tube between L24, L26 & L28 ? just a guess. I recall from my Toyota days the K series motors had different tube lengths over the years Cheers Quote

Riceburner Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Yeah L24 was shortest, L28's were both differnt also. L28/F54 block was longer than L28/N42, but L24 was longer than both. Yep all differnet part no's Mark, I thought they be the same depending on 24/26/28? I didn't right them down though. Sorry for the hijack James, I can't help with lengths. Quote
