Joining Aussie Forums

Hey everyone just putting this out there... i have looked at the other aussie z forums and all theyre forum including viczcar are a bit scarce on information. Im sure everyone here has seen or is a part of hybridz in the u.s that forum has no much information...everyone find outs wat they need to know quick smart.. i know its a big thing but what about auszcar.. combining all forums into 1 major forum.. the viczcar new look is great and i just think it would be a good idea.. id love to hear peoples opinion on this topic.

great idea but not enough people to make it as useful as we'd like. even though this forum is run by mexicans i know they're commited and it'll be around for a while where a new joint might take off at first but then die off.

Yer George is right about the numbers and it would be very hard to merge the various Z sites in Oz as all have different ideas on what they want to see from their respective sites.

 

Part of the new look for Viczcar is to turn it into much more of a Z and early Jap car resource. As soon as the new look and any bugs in the site are sorted by Gav we want to have a strong focus on building up as much articals as possible. Gav has already been in touch with a couple of guys to write up articals and supply pics for the features ride section so we can possibly release an artical every month or so in that area. We have put together a questionare to send to people on their ride for those that would like to fill it out and send back with pics of thier car. This is an easy way to get your car in on featured cars without worrying about being a literary genius. We want to have all this stuff linked from the front page. We are also organising room from Vans comic on the front page which he would update as he gets time but that would be a very unique part of this site and I'm sure many would love to see more of his art work.

 

There is also much that members can do to help. In the coming months we hope to encourage members to contibute articals on various topics. For exampke some that come to mind are MIG welding body work, painting, interior resoration, setting up various tripple carbs, headwork, suspension set ups and the list goes on and on but I guess you get my point.

 

We've also talked to a couple of Z part suppliers from Japan and hope to get that sorted at some point too.

 

As far as the name Viczcar goes in hindsight we should have called it AusZcar but hey initially we only meant it to be a reference for cruise dates and meetings ie maps photos but it's turned into more which is great. Changing names now would be a bit of a pain as I understand it due to search engines having to update new names and problems with dropping off the search results. Ah whats in a name any how it seems to work ok as it is.

 

Anyhow if you guys do have any other ideas on how we can improve things as we go please contribute as this does help us decide what direction to take.

yer that sounds good just voicing my thoughts... i think the idea of more articles is a really good idea.. i myself am only 16 and already own 2 260z's in the process of restoring one as my first car and need all the info i can get my hands on...

Well when we started out, it was just Sulio and I (and one other character we'd prefer not to mention). The idea was to get a few Z guys together and go for a cruise every now and then. Anyway since I work with websites everyday I couldn't help but tinker and improve as we went along so it's now turned into what you see today.

 

We quickly grew and gained new members from across the country and around the world. So Viczcar is not longer Victorian based. However this is how we are known. As Sulio said the search engines are already familiar with the domain name www.viczcar.com however we can always have more than 1 name. Like Auszcar.com or something.

 

As we continue to grow I'm sure our information will grow with it and as Sulio said we plan on adding plenty of articles to improve the resource we have, not just for Australian owners, but globally.

 

To incorporate the other forums would probably be alot of manual database work and something beyond my immediate abilities (although it would be a great chance to learn some more about SQL). We have links to these other websites so that people can still join them, however we like to think we will be the main resource for most people.

 

Wazcars.com is basically a club now, and there forum is for their members only. Craig did a great job with the site likewise with the other forums.

 

If the webmasters of those forums wish to contribute here, I'm happy to give them a login where they can submit articles or other information to our site. The new system allows for several levels of user access.

 

You will probably have noticed that our forum now contains alot more categories to cater to all the different aspects of owning a Zcar. In time I think we will become an even better resource.

good work gav! i'd personally like to see an article on various brake upgrades using australian car bits, and would love to see the setup NZeder is working on. just all the brake upgrades on hybridz are confusing due to the different models, or i'm just stupid...

hey again yer im definitely not putting down viczcar just had a suggestion and i hope what gav and that have said works... by the way anyone know if a u12 pintara rear disc brakes can somehow work?? going over a mates house to try get sum off his parts car will let you guys know if they work and do a write up..

 

 

yer man its me.. by the way everyone zedevan really has a truly awesome car its so different to see it in the flesh well done on the car man...

 

again thanks for your input i hope as much as everyone that we can really get some action on this forum..

 

also wen is the next cruise is they're one planned at all i couldn't see anything.. my dad has a zed to so we'll definitely be coming if its possible..

My hat is off to you guys ( GAV SULIO),

 

I am only a part timer when it comes to the forums. It is always refreshing to get some good AUSSIE spin on topics. At VICZCAR you always get the goods. I think an additional hit of AUSZCAR wont hurt and maybe the other guys will support the data flow.

 

Good Luck and please keep it all turning over the resource is fantastic.

Thanks Steve, well we have a great new RB powerered featured car artical coming up soon, Gavs just putting the fininshing touches on that one, the photos will blow ya away. Also plenty planned in terms of resource articals. We hope to get a list of topics displayed that members might be interested in writing about that we could post via the front page.

 

We also hope to organise a small cruise for the first week of August. It will be an over night run from Melbourne to Apollo Bay via the Great Ocean Rd and staying overnight in Appollo Bay. A nice run back after breaky in the morning. Some details shall be posted in the upcoming events this week. Only those that express interest in coming will be e-mailed full details with maps and departure times. Of coarse there should be plenty of pics and videos I hope to post on return!
