Natez Posted August 12, 2005 Posted August 12, 2005 hey its been about 9 months that ive had my 260z, has it moved under its own power after this 9 months, no, The worst thing is, i've been working on the body for about 3 months trying to get it 100% before i get it resprayed and trying to save up the cash to get all the suspension bits and peices and engine peices that i've always wanted, Yesterday WALKING home from the train station, having a bad day at school and work i just wanted to go home and drive a Z and give it a good trash thou some hills, but NOOOO i've got no running Z car right now do i... all i say is it better be worth it.... Anyone else restoring or rebuilding a Z and just can't stand it sitting still Quote
Huw Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Yah, I've been itching to drive mine for a while but still working on the last paintjob, never driven it but it sounds great (which makes the wait suck even more ) At the moment rob at Zworx is doing th elast bit of adjustment before paint but he can't do it till good-weather so..... But yeh, no fun waiting. Huw Quote
Zeddophile Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Well, mine runs, and is perfectly driveable (except for no exhaust past extractors), but yeah, no seats, half the panels off - its driving me mad too.... I haven't even gotten to drive it on the road yet! Quote
matt drago Posted August 13, 2005 Posted August 13, 2005 Hehe, I know what you all mean. I did the silly thing and drive mine around a bit before starting the rebuild. At the time I didn't hold the saying "you never miss what you don't know" in high regard, boy am I sorry that I didn't. I started the tear down back in January this year, and only being able to work one day a weekend (if I'm lucky), I'm still srtipping the panels back to bare metal. I've still got a long way to go before she's on the road, but I KNOW it will be worth the wait. Quote
zr240 Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 I have been working on mine for a while now since that cold awfull day in april last year that a stupid 944 parked in the side of mine!!!! Ash Quote
Huw Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 hehe, matt my mistake was to take warren (zworx's) green 260 with triple webbers for a lap around the block (on my best behaviour of course), the itch to get mine finished hasn't stopped since then. so...the moral is don't drive someone else's zed before you finish yours! Mr Camouflage Posted August 14, 2005 Posted August 14, 2005 I hear your pain guys, My 240 has been off the road since I bought it in April 2003. I only get to work on it maybe 5 hours a month. It's a completely stripped chassis sitting on axle stands. Quote
S130ZED Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 My 280ZX has been of the road since March 2004. Prior to that I had the car for about a month with no rego and did some illegal driving of it a nights around the back streets. However, on the weekend it finally went in for its paint job so hopefully it wont be too long now before it's back on the road. Quote
Lynton Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 My car is stock standard, alas My car just keeps on purring while I watch you all modify change customize while I just keep on jiving! Even just a slush machine like mine, I still enjoy and keep on jiving! Lynton Quote
Graedat Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Im with ya guys, mines been off the road for 10 months while i save for a new powerplant I surf the forums and dream of the day she fires up again. Quote
NZeder Posted September 1, 2005 Posted September 1, 2005 Mine been off the road of 7-8 years. Spent a few living in Melbourne before returning to NZ to start a family, build a house and get the zed back on the road. Have a look at my web site (server is old so it is a bit slow - will be upgrading soon). I have purchased a few more bits of late and will post new pics in about 2 weeks. Quote
Sooley Posted September 6, 2005 Posted September 6, 2005 Yep, Been 3 years since my last drink. In my zed car that is check out my web page and see where I am up to. www.240z.freeservers.com Sooley Quote
warrenz Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 I guess I should add my name to the list of Zed's off the road. Its been 3 months and so far the rust is gone for the front end and I am about to attack the doors. I am waiting for Tabco in the US to advise if they have the lower door rust repair sections in stock and will get them picked up in the US by a colleague travelling their next week. Seems a cheaper option than hand made Zworx panels. May be only a couple of months to go before it is back on the road with a shiny new paint job and rust free. Warren Quote
Toecutter Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Warren are you buying superlites for the car? Sulio Quote
warrenz Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 More than likely as I have contact for factory direct, but lets see how much spare cash there is after the paint job. Warren Quote
