Riceburner Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Hehehehe, Are they ever finished? Nice Job Sam. Loving the look, white Zeds definately look the best and the side decals really set it off. Where did you get them from? I suggest an Iphone cradle, it'll save your passenger leaning over to do the vid work Congrats, you've done a great job. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted April 4, 2013 Moderators Posted April 4, 2013 Hey Sam Looks good, I was very interested in this car when you last posted a few months ago, I like the V8's No posts for a few months then...... Finished....... all about actions rather than words. Well Done PB Quote
neRok Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Looking good! Are your videos pre or post tune? If post, I would suggest taking it to someone who specialises in carbs and/or tuning. You will probably find your 'dead spot' can be fixed with different size power valves etc. They will probably get it cold starting a lot better. Mine hasnt got any choke and idles itself after 15-20sec of holding on a few revs. Jump onto aussiev8.com.au and ask on there, you will get some good advice. Quote

Well Done PB Hi Peter, Sorry about the lack of material, I honestly was just too excited about working on it and I didn't know when enough was enough to make a post! Looking good! The video is post tune, and I agree it does need some sort of work done to get it running "just right" my plan was to save up for the MSD ignition system and then get Adam at ACM in Bathurst to give it a real tune. The tune he did was more of a carby clean, get the mixtures right prelim tune with the intention of giving it a more thorough tune after radiator (which has been done) and ignition. Adam specialises in Rochester 4-barrel carbs (which is what we have) in particular and I have heard from multiple sources that he is the man. Was thinking about extractors and roller rockers but I think that with the ignition and proper tune it will be plenty quick for me (it already is). Hehehehe, Are they ever finished? Nice Job Sam. Thanks for the feedback guys, I hope to see some of you at some get-togethers in the future Sam. Quote
Samfa12 Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 I'm moving to Broken Hill and have 2 options; Store the car with my parents for the years that I'll be out there, or Sell the car with the plans of doing one again later in life. I'm not sure what to do but I wouldn't say no 25 - 30k you know. Any suggestions? Anybody know anybody who is looking for a restored z with an engineered 5 litre? Best to email me directly - samsmall1267@gmail.com Quote

Best to email me directly - samsmall1267@gmail.com Hey mate, I just saw your build thread now, and videos on Youtube awesome work on the Z. I must admit I love the sound of a V8. As someone who just returned from living 6 nearly 7 years abroad, I am so glad I stored my Z. I really missed working on it while living abroad, as much as I enjoyed travel. I had that yearning to do something constructive with my hands. Thankfully my mum was cool about having the Z in the garage all that time. It sustained a knock or 2, which was a bit annoying but the paint wasn't perfect to start with. I'd recommend keeping it mate and you may find you'll be able to come back to it in a few months to a year or so away. You'll be really glad you kept it, trust me. I was going to ask where you live as it seemed like you had plenty of space, but I noticed under your name it says Bathurst, I was out that way on Saturday and it's a really lovely part of the country. I took some photos of my 'other' car just as dawn was coming. Quote
Veloce Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Why not take it to Broken Hill? Nice and dry so she ain't going to rust! All you need to do is bolt on a Weiand, strap a pair of 200L drums on the back and paint it black Quote
Samfa12 Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 Its been a while but I've slowly been refining and growing my zed. Here are a few updates modwise. Front disc upgrade (silvermine stage 4) Rear disc conversion MSD distributor, coil and leads Streetfire MSD ignition box Twin shrouded thermo fans New front shocks Other than that I've been loving it to bits and just taking care of the old girl. Gotta thank my cousin Charlie (has that nice rb26 260z that's on here) for the brakes. Keep it in the family aye. On another note, my father recently bought a 260z 2-seater with a chev 350. We love our v8 zeds haha. Photos when I figure out how to upload them on mobile. Quote
