;D but had an issue with one of the intercooler pipes blowing off just after i had the 3" mandrel bent exhaust fitted. I limped her home and fixed it

but now a couple of days later she has developed a misfire.

I say you're right Mark.

She would have gone rich real quick when the cooler hose blew off.

Do you still run the screen infront of the afm? As mounting the pod on it like that can cause uneven flow across the sensor.

We used to run the afm on the pressure side of the turbo after the intercooler for that reason.

Another tip if your going to use worm drive cooler pipe clamps over T-bolt clamps, apparently hair spray on the inside of the silicone hose makes them slip on good, but then sets and makes them hard to get off again.

I've got a funny story about testing out a VL turbo 'trailer' car one day. Blowing a cooler hose, bonnet catch broke, limping the car home when on the last stretch of road a car full of police detectives drives past and notices my lack of number plates ;D That was an expensive exercise.

Also, how are you controlling boost (wastegate etc) and where are you getting the boost feed from for the controller.

The boost has a manual control and is connected to the top of the throttle body.

Turns out the number 4 coil pack has died. No biggy!

Well we sovled the misfire with a second hand coilpack and it looks like it's been an issue from the start as when we took off after fitting it she spun the wheels right through 2nd gear. We took a run of a measured quarter and did a 15.5 with a bogged down take off and i basically rolled through the last 40 meters, i am very confident that the car will run a 13 second pass no problem!

The completed car took a trip to Albury this weekend and promptly blew the diff which we had planned to take it easy on till we changed it out for a stronger unit.

I was thinking of either;

A series 3 Bluebird diff

An R31 diff or

See which borg warner centres from a ford are interchangable

A VL turbo diff

Not sure which way i am going to go yet, sure wish it had the irs end now!

Any live axle Falcon from XD to AU and live axle VK-VT Commodores have the Borg Warner 78 diff

Awesome, forgive my stupidness but is that a good diff.?

They aren't too bad. With experience only in R31s and some live axle Fords they can develop a bit of diff whine from 80-100km/h. The LSD centres are useless though, I would choose a mini spool or an aftermarket centre if the cash was there.

There are a variety of centres available (KAAZ, Detroit locker etc) available for them too. With your 200B's set up I think a 78 series diff should be ok considering the amount of turbo Falcons, Skylines and VL Commos out there with them running 300+kw

Some good reading on these diffs:

IRS mate...

Get the MR30 rear end setup, and use the subaru STI diff - LSD too!

It's the 4 link rear end so yea no irs. We have a HR165 TRX diff to go in now.

Any updates on this???

This project has been on hold since the owner started up a new Business on the main street in Ballarat which was the old Unicorn Hotel. As soon as he is ready we need to strip down the block and we're going for some oversize forgies, h -beam rods and Moly rings as it has a serious amount of blow by. Custom wheels and a new diff are also on the drawing board but we may swap the lot into another car of much better quality.

I’m starting a similar conversion in the next few weeks. Bought an 81 200B a couple of months ago and just managed to source a S13 SR20DET red top with a 5 speed gearbox that Was fitted into a Datsun 1200 Ute. Comes with intercooler, drive shaft ecu and wiring harness and exhaust.
