Z8253 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 hi guys just wondering how hard it is to put Rb25 into my 260z and what compactions i will come across? as I'm getting an Rb25 motor and gearbox Quote
nizm0zed Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Why would you want to put a RB 25 in there???? 253's are WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY better motors, especially for a dodgy slap together burnout car. Been covered, search. Hint, gearbox crossmember.... Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 22, 2011 Moderators Posted October 22, 2011 Very easy conversion to do. Engine mounts / gearbox mounts are available from lots of different places (this forum and Castlemaine Rod Shop) Sump / oil pickup is probably the hardest parts to find unless you modify a GQ Patrol unit. Everything else is pretty straight forward. Quote
Z8253 Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 cheer mate i look into it @nizm0zed pull ya haed out ya arse and stop being an up yaself wanker coz it going to still be dogge with an rb25 in it! Quote
chris240 Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 As dimitri said, the RB should be a nice conversion. There a mountains of info on numerous websites, including this one. Hmmmmm Ive been away on holidays for 3 weeks , whats with the 253 ? have I missed something.....Alan is usually a gentleman Quote
peter mc Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 well that just friendly banter ...... the Rb25 is a good little donk but be careful it will cost a bit, lots of mods to make a efi run in a zed ,,,,,but lots of fun and like zedman said there are lots of parts u can get to do the job, and the hard part is the sump and pic up and making the gear box x member and tail shaft but all these things have been done and there are lots of pics on the site Quote
Scando Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Checkout Jamo250Z's build thread. He found that for a street car, if you sit the engine in the right spot then you can use part of an R33 tailshaft (front half I think from memory?) and just change the yoke to go onto the diff. It's sits the engine a little further forward than what would be ideal for balance though. As Pete mentioned, there's always a fair bit of work converting a carby car to EFI. It's handy if you're good with wiring or know somebody who is. Quote
Z8253 Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 thanks heeps mate very big help il keep that in mind Quote
Agno Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 there's always a fair bit of work converting a carby car to EFI carby rb25 turbo z? why not! Quote
