Diff bearing.

I am chasing a front ext bearing with 30mm id. Some diffs came out with a 28mm shaft and this bearing is still available but 30mm ones are NLA. Someone may have one stacked away and is willing topart with it. :-\

Do you have the part number for the 30mm one?

 

Maybe you could source it an alternative way but you'd need the part number.

I had my diff done by Geoff at Jack McNamara diffs, and he sorted out a front bearing for me, and I had the diameter problem you refer to. I can't remember which way around my issue was, but Geoff sorted it out....if you get stuck, give him a call, as there is about nothing to do with diffs Geoff hasn't sorted out. I will also check the bearing diameter I have from the gearset i removed, as it was in good nick and now surplus to requirements.

The guy who is doing mine does a lot of work for the racing guys up here and has tried all the major bearing companys. I can't get the number today as Steve is not at workshop today but will have it Monday. SWM has bearings listed so will try them as well. Thanks.

maybe try surplus bearings, in Randal St Kingston last time I used them.  They carry a lot of new old stock at reasonable prices.  I purchased two CR speedy sleeves for less than the price that others were quoting for one.

Yes post up the bearing number on here and if you can the inner and outer diameter. the bearing shop up here has never let me down yet.

This might be asking a bit much but you don't have a photo of the offending item too as i'm unsure of the type of bearing. Obviously not a sealed type but!

Guys I did a bit of research on this before (a few years back now) and there is a post on hybridz with a part number. The NLA part is the old number I managed to track down another part number for someone on hybridz once - I will have to find the thread again and post the info here. But I about to go off line for a few hours so unless someone else find it - I use the same user name on hybridz, and I don't forget to look it up later, I will post it up late tonight or tomorrow.

and the part number I found after hours of searching over the Nissan catalogues and FAST system

Here is the tip. The partnumber 38335-N3100 that you guys are looking for I assume is a pre 80's etc partnumber ie before Nissan computerised the deal network etc this number does return as NLA but here is what I did

 

"Well I thought I would pass on what I have just found out about the R200 bearing that is meant to be NLA. You just need to know more about where Nissan used the R200's. Here in NZ we are lucky to have a number of JDM imports so we see lots of these different cars.

 

Anyway we mainly get our R200 these days from these JDM imports (260z/300zx with R200 you just don't see wrecking anymore).

 

These cars are R30/R31 (Skyline), C31/C32 (Laurel), Y31 (Cedric), SY31 (Gloria), Z31 (300zx), F30/F31 (Leopard) just to name a few

 

So this prompted me to check the Japanese copy of Nissan FAST that I have. So I picked on the R30 range for my searching. And the partnumber returned was 38335-N3200 which I then used to check if they number had been replaced and yep with 38335-N3210 and then 38335-N3220

 

I then put the partnumber I had found into the Nissan PartMaster part of FAST for all the versions I have. The Europe version came back with S130 as using the 38335-N3200 part so this tell me that the 10mm versions of the R200 also use/can take this same bearing. Now given this number has been replaced with 38335-N3220 I figured a quick google would show if some one still sells the part.

 

Anyway 38335-N3220 is the last version of the partnumber for

bearing in question and it is still available."

Ok here it is. I went to my local Nissan dealer and the big fat @@@t that served me is a brain dead @@@t. There used to be a great young guy there that used to go out of his way to find bits for me but all I get now is sh@t from this fat @@@T. I bet his wife is ulgy as sin. Anyway the bearing I need is single row deep groove ball bearing 30x73x16. Most R200 diffs seem to have a 28x73x16 but mine has to be different. The no on the bearing is the same as the 28mm one. [83601] but the shaft is 30mm. HELP :'(

I checked the bearing I have on the front of the pinion I retired from service a litle while back, and it is the 28 x 73 x 16 (ie what came out). Now, the better ring and pinion that I put in had the 30mm diameter, as I recall Geoff (of Jack McNamara differentials) saying to me that he had to do a workaround as he couldn't get the larger dia bearing. I seem to remember he used an even larger bearing and turned up a bush to go on the pinion. Anyway, he had a workaround for the same problem you are having. My diff is back in the car and working fine.

 

If you can't get any joy on a 30mm bearing, give Geoff a call and ask him what he did to mine, and then perhaps you can have your bloke up there do it to yours.

Sounds good but the 28mm id bearing is getting like rocking horse shi@t tofind  and Steve has only one left. ATM he is getting the 28 bored out to 30 and hopefully all will be ok. Keep you posted.
