That is disappoinnting about Modern Motorsports.

Okay... I'll send him another email today and if he gets back to me I will perhaps start up a thread for this as I want this diff set-up BAD!

Do you want to install a shorty R200 or an R230? 230 is complete overkill for an S30 in my mind and sooooo heavy.

Well it's not a bad option d3coy, I did a few sums on shortnose over longnose (lol sry) and the price works out about the same due to the difference in R200 diff prices (long around $1000 anyday and a short about $250). And with a newer diff that's smaller, some say stronger and with more ratios to choose from it seems a good idea to buy a kit.

I mean you could most likely get one of these kits landed and a R200 shortnose diff for less than a R200 longonse! The rest of the job pricing after that would basically be identical.

NZder I spoke to TechnoToy a few months back and he said I did'nt have to go five stud (use S14 4 lug) which I was happy about, but with his kit you had to use his strut cartridges and convert to coilovers. I don't really like that as it's expensive enough upgrading the cars toosh as it is. Plus with all the seperate prices I don't quite know what to make of the TechnoToy kit!

MM seem to have fallen off the planet and TT is getting too involved! Enter old faithful longnose I think :o

I agree the R200 Shorty isnt a bad idea - i was just asking if you were thinking about going R230.

Apparently you can put the short nose carrier in the long nose case though, saving yourself another $450 + pp.

If you could find out the thread pitch and ID of the TTT lower assembly you might find that jap coilovers screw into them. But yeah more rooting around.

Whats wrong with a Subi diff - R180 - bolts in, lighter and converts to CVs which your motor will need anyway? How much hp is your motor going to make when it's done?

I'm talking R200, as you say, 230 is a little OTT!

I know there are others here who know far more about this then me, but I reckon the R180 could handle 300bhp atw, but it's the axles which would pop?! So to get the stronger axles you need to move to the R200. Like Greg, I'd like to know if there is another way to beef up the R180 because the subi LSD diffs are a pretty interesting option.

That could work d3coy.

After my histerics last night on getting a reply from Modern Motorsports I'm not too concerned about the TT coilovers, but coilovers are maybe three, five or more years down the track if I can be bothered as my car sits pretty good now with Koni reds and King springs

worst case, to do it on the cheap, i mean.....

swap carrier from subi (LSD) into a 280zx r180, use 280zx housing, shafts and companion flanges.

only for 240z stub axles with 24 spline however, if you have the 260z splines then diff story....

280zx are good for the fact they cam in 2 different difs r180 and r200 and both of these diffs had both uni joints and cv drive shafts, so 4 different combos

Come people cut the end off the CVs and just weld the Z flange (hub side) to the end of it.
