So this is the beginning, a 260z 2+2 bought from Shaun (sexualsushi) with big plans!!

Starting with a rusty shell with the standard L26, rebuilt transmission and a snazzy looking interior.

So due to the fact that my IB finals are a mere 4 weeks away, I haven't had much time to be messing around with my new toy, instead I've been studying my brains out.

 

Today I just couldn't resist, I needed a different type of differential equation on my mind!!

 

So I had been told it was a rusty body, today I found out just how true this was.

All this will be chopped and new sections welded in, apologies for the blurry photos, I need a new camera!!

 

So in this 1100kg car, I have come to discover about 50kg's of that is bog, layers and layer of bog, almost like they were icing a cake, a very rusty cake.

 

Turns out previous owners just bashed the rust in, welded new plates in and reshaped it using bog, they even carved artificial panel joins in it (last photo above rust), pretty impressive!!

 

It won't be an easy task but this thing will be a whole lot lighter when I'm done!

Nice work mate! You don't know how happy it makes me to see all of those cool toys that are destined for the White Knight ;)

Glad to hear that Shaun  ;D He stuffed the doglegs full of newspaper then slapped on a few cm of bog over it, I'd give him a slap if I met him!

Update on the 260z!

 

Due to my dad being paranoid, he's decided to get the RWC before putting on the G-nose, flares, fender flares and rear wing. Therefore, we had to pretty her up a bit, satin black bumpers, repaired the front apron and no more rust to speak of! Woooooooooooo!

I also decided to go with the completely black interior with a Datsun deep dish rim rather than the tuner egg steering wheel. (Plus I'm used to power steering my 280ZX so I need more leverage on the steering wheel, therefore bigger is better!)

Wow that was quick? Reeeeeallly no more rust? Or no more rust that Mr inspector can see? ;)

 

And yes the heatshield is just from ol Sueprcheap. When I rebuilt the carbies I noticed the fuel bowls were really hot so it was the quickest fix :)

 

Are you bringing this to the xmas party? Or does that depend on the P's?

 

Good choice with the black interior too, that was the next job on my list...

Hahah I swear to beejesus that there is no more rust in it (apart from all the small paint chips :P)

 

And I was considering heat-shielding my Dellortos in the S130 seeing as it's a worked motor, haven't had any vapour lock problems yet though!

 

This probably won't be registered before then, i'll be bringing my other bus.

 

Yeah I found the red interior too harsh! Much prefer the old monotone interior :D

I looked at 2 280ZX 2 seaters in the one day.

One, black with black interior. Which I bought. The other black with red interior.

To be honest, wish I got the red one too.

My 280ZX started with the red interior but I found it way too much of an eyesore, so I coordinated it into a black interior with red trim, took about 4 cans of vinyl spray paint and it hasn't bubbled, scratched or faded in the 3 years I've owned it. I would have loved to own a black interior! :o However I may be alone in saying this but I much prefer the 4 seaters in both S30's and S130's. Go ahead, have a go at me :P

Further progress! We've put the new G-nose on and it's pretty much flush everywhere! WOOO, this is with the bonnet just sitting on so it will pull the lip of the bonnet down!

 

Next step is the flares, wing, fender mirrors and king springs!

Your eyes do not fail you! Those are infact SL500 chrome bullet style mirrors on my S130 :D

 

Also yeah we're progressing pretty fast, we now have the flares on! More photos will probably be up tonight!
