How much will a really good condition, fully restored 2+2 cost

Hey guys,

 

just wondering, as I've paid about 8K+ for my Z all up, and have still got some more to go, how much will an extremely well condition 260Z 2+2 fetch these days???

 

 

Will the value in the future rise or decline?

 

 

 

 

What are all your expert opinions?

Not an expert but,  I reckon a good 2+2 should be about 12K and an excellent one about 15K.

 

They will go up in value for as long as we can run fossil fuels!

I dont think the prices will ever decline as they are getting rarer and rarer. I reckon about 10k is around the ballpark for a good one. The problem is that 2+2's are often bought and quickly sold at low prices as unfinished projects which make them seem 'common'and cheaper than what they really should be. Always remember a 2+2 will always be cheaper than an equivalent 2 seater.

 

But to be honest they are worth as much as what someone is willing to pay at the time.

As I've stated before...I've achieved similar prices for my 2+2's that others have sold their 2 seaters for, it's all about it being a 'turn key' car.  People will pay more for a car with all the work done and will pay well.  I could get anywhere up to 15-18k for a 'turn key' fully 'refreshed' 2+2, however if you are getting others to do all the work it will cost you more than you will get back for it, if you can do the majority of work yourself then you'll pick up some$$  Prices will NEVER go down!

Agree, except if a recession hits Australia. Which so far seems to not be the case. Unlike Europe and the US which are both in trouble at the moment.

 

So many good cars are going for nothing, especially in Ireland there is just no market for them. Likewise with the UK actually, but classics tend to be something people are more willing to hang on to since they know when the market comes good again they won't loose value. Unlike a new car.

Ahh yeah, well I think recession is going to hit sooner than we expect it to as the aussie dollar high atm, so other countries aren't buying as much AUD from us as they used to... Or at least I heard something like that when my friend who happens to be an economics student told me.

 

 

But yeah, I've spent about 8K+ for it so far, and the only things that remain are just cleaning the inside which i'm about to do right now, then maybe bushes, RWC, Reg.

I am very pleased with the result thus far and don't intend on selling it anyway, its just that people (mainly my parents) are giving me shit saying that I've made a loss buying my Z and that I could have bought a non-project, complete Z with reg for cheaper...

My grandad greatly disagrees though as the car is currently parked at his place, and he can't get over the awesome paint work

The thing about buying someones project is that you don't know what you are getting whereas with yours, you know exactly whats gone into it and if you have taken alot of pics for proof along the way that helps later down the track if you ever want to sell. Rarely does a real clean good 2+2 come up for sale...years ago I remember a one owner zed that looked like it just rolled off the factory floor; the female owner had difficulty selling it at $5000. This 2+2 was VERY clean and original. If I had the spare cash then, I should of bought it! But what didn't help was I had 3 other cars then and no room. I'd keep it for a long while before thinking of selling..

Putting a price on 2+2 is surely a matter of opinion and compared to what?

Restoration prices can only push the resale values up so they certainly won't get cheaper in the long run.

They are so user friendly compared to a 2 seater.

Even when you look nationally on carsales (15) 260Z cars available in general is not a lot Australia wide and people are still parting them out!!

Prices are self levelling and ultimately it will be what the market is prepared to bare given the time the day the year and world conflicts if any.

I have spent up to 40k with mine as the wife tells me but that is not the point of building this car. I want a really good car that I can keep not do up in the hope of making a profit. It all depends what you want in the long run.
