Brabham Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Nice pics. Who owns the light blue 2 seater with the old school Hurricane mags? Looks nice. Quote
GongZ Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 It was good to meet you and yours too Steve. I had a great time and thought the event was a big success. In this bunch is a pic of you passing a GTR! Congratulations on how well your awesome new car went (and sounded!) on the track! Quote
chris240 Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 There are a lot of real nice zeds there, but no offence, they are pretty much all the same, eg, triple carbs, wats, flares ect. beeehhhhh....theyre the same because its failsafe and the owners dont see the need to spend a gazzilion dollars over-modding to have the car worth half its value. track day looked great. Noticed a few zeds on the track that werent there on saturday. howd you go Scott ? sub 58secs Quote
Six_Shooter Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 It's the same "problem" everywhere... People just copy many of the same elements from other S30s that are known to look, work well, and be liked. There are only a few of us that will push the envelope and do something different. I just want to rip into mine, but I need to get the girlfriend's Mustang going first. Quote
mossy Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Don't know if you would call it a problem, I'm going with pretty much the standard look with wats because i absolutely love that look and for me it doesn't get any better, I imagine a lot of others are the same. Quote
nizm0zed Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Hey i wouldnt call it a problem at all, im not saying i dont like it, i just like to see something different more... Quote

So guys, For my own vain reasons I have to ask, in the judging is it a case of cars being critiqued on originality with period upgrades i.e triples etc or are hybrids with a much wilder approach also contenders? sco_aus Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 There were a bunch of different categories for the concours and they were to suit all types, rather than the most original zed or what ever. I liked the way they did it, but then again, i have never been to any other concours. Hey GongZ, I didnt get to meet you there, but thanks for throwing that last pic of me (silver and black). Had an awesome day, my PB was 1:14.0, but with a bit of practice and some suspension tuning will pull a lot better times. I decided to call it quits on the last session only one lap in, when I went off at the top of the hill and heard a bad bang sound, but all seems good, probably my exhaust copping it again. Quote

John it depends on the class system that is set up. The Z concours seem to be well set up for modified cars, but some clubs, such as the pommy cars, get very pedantic about originality for their car washing competitions. Quote
BenZed Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Some more pics of the early Zeds at the show Quote
