Not-so-new guy without a Zed

Hi all,

In light of recent htreads, I thought I should introduce myself.

I've been hanging around here for quite a while, firstly as a guest then as a member. I tend to be more of a "lurker", as I don't own a Zed It is my intention to add one to my Datsun collection, but I tend to work slowly so it may take a while (it took 20 years to turn "I'd like a Fairlady" to "I own a Fairlady) . My "Zed" experience has been limited to driving and working on my brother's 2 seater 260Z that he owned in the 80's and 90's. Oh, and his current car - a 350Z.

My Datsun obsession dates back to learning to drive in my father's brand new 200B. When the time came to get my first car, I couldn't afford a 200B so settled for a much cheaper 1600 instead (how times have changed). That 1600 is still in my shed, along with another 1600, a 180B SSS, a 1500 Fairlady and a 1600 Fairlady.

Current "project" is the 180B SSS, and involves a complete rotisserie-stlye restoration. It will be powered by a supercharged, injected L18.

The only one currently driveable is my 2nd 1600 - an ex-group A rally car which has I've had for maybe 15 years or so. It spend a fair bit of that time in the shed, but now does supersprints, etc, including FoSC at Bathurst last year as an honorary member of the Qld Z Car Club's regularity team.

So, that's me in a nutshell. Hopefully one day I will own a Zed, but in the meantime I may see a few of you guys around the place with my 1600 - it will be up at Lakeside in May for LapZ at the Lake.

Hi 1600dave good to see you i have also just joined, good to hear you are coming up for LapZ what a bummer about Bathurst this year i would have emailed you to see if you wanted to join in with us qlders again,
