Z Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 This has to be interesting for someone - lose the wheels though! http://www.countrycars.com.au/centralwest/car/998895?back=50&srch=Go&pcode=C&location=W Oh maybe it ain't so good, ad says it's a 2.8... Quote
. Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 If you believe those miles I have a bridge to sell you.....I think that by quoting those miles people will automatically think the owner is lying and would not want to hand over $25K. Begs the question what else is he hiding? No offence if it is someone here but if it is I recommend removing those miles. We all know it is what the dial says but how many times has it been around the clock? Quote
chris240 Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 In my opinion those miles are original... the gear knob, steering wheel, radio, all look immaculate..so hes put tripples on it, no big deal , look at the accelerator linkages , they look mint, the cable that feeds the starter still has the original red sheathing on it ! if hes owned the car for 20 years and he lives in Cowra hes probably averaged 1.2km per week, about the distance of the main street.. Only the good cars come from Cowra Quote
Z Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Baah, if it looks like the car for the right person I say go for it. Hopefully it can get someone else here into a zed, never knew there was a Country Cars site either! Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 6, 2011 Moderators Posted March 6, 2011 I'd be asking what happened to the original L24? Where is it? why the L28? For that cash I'd be wanting the original motor, wheels, hubcaps etc as a package. Quote
Z Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Absolutely Zedman...at first I saw the kays, then the L28, then the doubt set in! If he wasn't after so many $ this could be a good buy. Quote
MaygZ Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 Sorry fellas, but I don't see $25K as being over priced for what looks like a very neat car. Yes it could be more original, but then it might carry a $30K tag. I'd hate to think that I'm going to put shiver loads of time and money into mine and it only be worth $15K when I'm finished - obviously it's market value will be the concern of my NOK as they pry the keys from my cold dead fingers. DAT392 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 When I put my new dash in,my car had 0kms on it.But if its the right car and someone is happy to buy it at that price I spose thats what its worth, good luck to them! Quote
. Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 It may well be worth the $25K but I just think it smells a bit. 31,000miles over 40 years is only 775 per year. I only drive mine on 1 out of every 4 weekends and I think I would do that in 10 years. Particularly in Cowra you only have to go to the next town and back and you've done 100. Plus the question has to be asked why would someone who hardly drives the car bother to do an engine upgrade? Having said all that even if its done 131,000 miles it might still be worth $25,000 if it is in good enough condition. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted March 7, 2011 Moderators Posted March 7, 2011 I don't think its anyone's intention to talk down the value of that particular zed, but it raises a few questions about the history of it... Like my post before about an engine swap, and where the original motor is. It may be a perfect car underneath and inside, but for that price, I would like to know everything about it and whatever history is known. Quote
Dingo Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 lol my 260z says its got 83000km on the clock. however when i pulled the car appart i found a receipt for a 80000km service lol. know knows maybe coincidence. But mine still had rust in the boot lid, boot floor, drivers floor. (most of that not that bad) and the sills. So maybe its been in pops shed for years and he pulled it out. but the motor had a blown head gasket so he dropped a L28 in it that he or someone had lying around for a quick sale. Or maybe the cars been used and clocked it a few times but pop looked after it and had it in the shed when he wasn't using it. Could even be that the car was a wreck that someone got there greasy little hands on. slapped bog all through it (including the rusted out sills) and painted it up. got their hands on a l28 and slapped it in. who knows. Just if anyone is thinking of buying it have a good look first. Who knows maybe it actually has a log book in it. maybe he just priced it up so he could take a knock down. dunno. Quote
PZG302 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Or, if you are keen, instead of assuming what the story is give the owner a call and ask what the go with the car is. This forum at times gets worse than the hairdresser's forum when it comes to talking down cars for sale. Quote
620Z Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Ha Ha I like your comments PZG302. Maybe someone should call him. It may even be as simple as the new motor L28 has done the 31,000klms (Not the actual car). It's funny we all want the value of Zeds to go up but we are always sceptical when someone asks for descent dollars for a Zed. Maybe it's jealousy if that person got the asking price. But I think we all have a good feel for what our Zeds are really worth. And I mean our cars cost far more than we get for them. But we can live in hope we reach the Ford GTHO level's. That might be after I am dead and buried though. Go the Zed. Quote
