260Coupe Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Guys FYI For those of you with NDSOC issued Club Permit Plates (CH plates/red plates, club reg) , the 90 day log book scheme has finally been ratified by Vic Roads and will come into effect in Feb 2011................yeahah we all say ! All permit Plate holders will be issued log books in Feb and may operate their vehicle under the new rules immediately, this meeans you will have 90 days per year of unlimited use as long as you complete the log book. Windscreen stickers will be issued upon renewal of permits, annual safety and compliance checks will be implemented in 2011. Please note that their will be some tightening up of the conditions around continuance financial club membership and reporting of any miss use (exceeding the 90 days of use, not maintaining membership etc ) to Vic Roads to comply with the administration requirements. No details of additional costs has been advised as yet however a small increase is expected to cover log books and admin, Vic Roads are continuing with the 25 year eligibility at this stage and the eligibility is still around standard or lightly modified vehciles. Keep an eye out for the next issue of the NDSOC mag for more details . cheers Alan Permit Plate Secretary NDSOC Quote
luvemfast Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Woo Hoo Finally, that's great news Alan. May be time to buy more cars to have one for each day of the week Quote
biggels240z Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Alan whats the process for going onto the permit scheme is it the same as transferring to CH plates ? Do we need a rwc or just inspection ? Quote
Bruce Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 hi Alan, it has been a long time coming. One of the issues that was highlighted early on, was that you couldn't drive interstate on the your club plates. Do you know if this has been changed? cheers Bruce Quote
V8Datto Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Very interested in finding out more info on this, mainly what engine conversions are allowed on the log book system so I can start work on my 240 again. Quote
260Coupe Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 Vic roads are still to provide the details around the new conditions of use suffice to say that they maintain that the Club Permit Scheme is for standard and lightly modified vehicles. The NDSOC issues plates on the basis of the following Vehicles must be presented with an eye to what is deemed to be acceptable for full registration Engines must remain of the same family (ie L series for a Z) Heavy modifications to brakes, engines, suspension etc must be supported by an engineers report, NDSOC committee will than assess eligibility To obtain a new permit plate issued by the NDSOC you must : Join the NDSOC and remain full and financial for the life of the permit Complete an application for Permit Plate and send to Permit Secretary for review Provide a RWC or have one of the NDSOC Scruntineers assess the vehicle for eligibility/safety Take signed permit application (signed off by NDSOC Permit plate secreatry) with RWC or letter issued by the NDSOC to Vic roads for issue of the plate. Any specific questions PM me cheers Alan Quote
Six_Shooter Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Please excuse my ignorance here, but I'd like to understand more about the permits being discussed here. Just FYI, I'm not located in Australia and when I was there I wasn't nearly old enough to drive yet, so I didn't pay attention to9 the road laws back then. Can I get a brief description of these plates, and what is being changed here exactly? I'm wondering if this is similar to our "Historic" plates we have here. Quote
260Coupe Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 In Victoria, Australia the Club Permit Scheme allows Historic vehicles to be driven on public roads without the need for full registration, the permit is for limited use "enthusiast vehicles" older than 25 years . (This scheme is also in place in mosts states in Australia) Numerous motoring clubs are eligible to issue permit plates to their members, the use of the vehicle is currently limited to only club sanctioned events (social drives, transport to and from tracks days and any other event advertised by the issuing club) . These rules are now changing to allow use of the vehicle for up to 90 days with no limit on the purpose...................so you can drive it to work if you wish. Full road rgistration is $624 per annum here in Victoria, Club Permit is currently $110 per annum so there are significant cost savings if you only use your vehicle occasionally ............less than 90 days per year. 260Coupe Posted November 28, 2010 Author Posted November 28, 2010 Hi Guys FYI Following on from the announcement of the 90 day log book, I have had a number of new requests for Permit Plates from the Vic Z fraternity, this is fine however permits must be used within the current conditions of use. Please be aware that the new scheme does not come into play until log books are issued in Feb 2011 and any use outside of the current conditions of use risk a $500 fine and the cancellation of the permit (as stipulated by Vic Roads to all clubs issuing permit plates) regards Alan Quote
Toecutter Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 This is great news, now just gotta find a new Z! Quote
