Does washer activation trigger wipers?

My 3/72 240Z has never run whilst in my possession. I am moving the wiper control from the steering column to either a toggle or rotary switch on a fibreglass dash. Can someone advise me on whether pushing the washer button on the end of the stalk also activated a short wiper cycle or simply wets the windscreen. Thanks.

On my 74 260Z pushing the washer button wets the screen and activates the wipers for a cycle.
