Pedro Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 Hi, I was wondering what you guys thought of this. I am getting my rear light surround on my 260z coupe painted, as well as front spoiler, and grill; Now what i wanted to know what opinions on colour and shine level [gloss/satin] The Car is silver; Rear light surround: Black gloss or Charcoal gloss [thoughts?] Front spoiler, similar to MSA: Black or Charcoal, satin or gloss; was thinking not going silver on this one; Grill: charcoal or black, gloss or satin? I want to keep original but have noticed people have gone both ways on this one; thanks, Pedro Quote
stevo_gj Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Hey Pedro, Take some photo's of the rear of your car and it will be a lot easier for us to help you out mate. Personally I like the grill matte black. I also like front spoilers to be the same finish as the paint IE glossy. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 I think the grill and taillight surrounds should be matte/satin like the original. The book How to Restore Your Datsun or whatever it is tells you how to mix the paint and someone on here recently posted a link to a Hybridz or classiczcar thread with more info. I find the glossy taillights look a little cheap IMHO. And generally I think the front spoiler should be the same colour as the body as well, black does work on some cars so yeah some pics might help Quote

Pedro Posted May 31, 2010 Author Posted May 31, 2010 great feedback guys. I am leading toward the black for the rear panel. satin/gloss still unsure. I saw it on a charcoal 2+2 on this site and it looked pretty smart and it looked satin i think. I have noticed a lot of cars with the MSA front bar left in the black urethane and always thought it looked good... so unsure there. Quote
stevo_gj Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 I had mine left in black urethane and I feel it looked quite average. It needs black paint at least if you want to keep it black. The exposed urethane look isn't very nice IMO Quote
Huw Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 I can't remember the exact process we used....but for mine.... It was painted in the black and then lightly sprayed over the top with grey.... this gets it pretty close to stock (methinks). If I find the time (and remember) will try and get some photos.
