Hunter Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I have been thinking about the cam cover for my future project of a webber powered RB20/25. Would you be able to post pictures of any cam covers that look like the the S20 motor in the picture below? Does not matter if it is four cylinder or 6. If they are four cylinder covers I will buy two and weld together. The cover is just going to float over the existing RB cover and be mounted with tabs. so the cover is purely cosmetic and will have no mechanical use at all on the engine. Diemensions could be useful too if you can supply them Quote
benny Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Hey Mate, Though of this the other day after all of the convos...FJ20 Ben Quote
Hunter Posted April 28, 2010 Author Posted April 28, 2010 cheers mate, I was thinking FJ20, looks a pretty close match. My mate used to have one in a 1200. Quote
Hunter Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 There are three types 1 vent, low flat top = NA FJ20e 2 vents, high flat top = FJ20et from dr30 2 vents, high top with recessed oil cap = s12 FJ20et & FJ20e Quote
Hunter Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 top DR30 FJ20ET in Group A DR30 Skyline bottom S12 FJ20ET in Datsun1600 Quote
NZeder Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Here is a thought - just get a S20 cover. Here a pic of early RB20 redtop covers with a different look Quote
NZeder Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Damn I was just about to say that Yes red top RB covers would be the easiest to have a sim look. Those blue ones are listed on trademe currently guy is looking for $275 NZD aka funny money. Also Ben I have sent that request through now Quote
NZeder Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Early SR20 cover parts of this might work. Also here is a link to a large pic of the S20 engine might help with looking at the cover design http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e3/Nissan_S20_engine_001.JPG Quote
Hunter Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 A small 3rd world country could be supported on the cost of a genuine s20 cover The RB20 covers look ok, but i prefer the fJ20 look Quote
ScottyB Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 if it will be RB powered, wouldn;t it make sense to not have a floating cover - but to use something like that RB20 modified cover, better yet - modify a 20 cover to look how you want it to look? Quote
Hunter Posted May 6, 2010 Author Posted May 6, 2010 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,6853.0.html scotty not sure if you have read the thread above, I want an S20 look alike on a budget. I am still sold on welding two FJ20 skyline D30 covers together to create a similar cover to the S20, Aluminium plates will be welded on top to either side of the welded together FJ20 covers then machined to match the S20 cover, depending on cost might be cheaper for S20 covers if i went the way above, but i can get heaps of stuff done at mates rates but RB20 covers could maybe be modified more easily as a floating cover, but mounted flat instead of angled like on the RB, with a piece out front Quote
furrybarry Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Early Merc twin cam straight six, before they went coil on plug. Quote
