Enzo Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Hi Guys, I have been looking for a set of strut inserts to replace the shot Monroes in my 1976 260z. I have just ordered a set of Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable inserts from the USA for AU$622.00 delivered to my door. They also have cheaper inserts, Tokico HP (blue) and KYB. The seller is (JDMWERKS13) and I found them by typing (260z shocks) into the ebay search and scrolling down to the international sellers. I tried to buy local but the prices quoted and the variety available made it better to buy overseas. Hope that this helps anyone after inserts at a good price. David. Quote
S30Mike Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Thats not a bad price at all, and Tokico have always been great. Quote

I have got a quote from Chris at Shox for Tokico adjustable shock and spring kit for $669.00 + shipping $259.00, this seems to cheap to believe. I have read on some US Z forums that the front springs are progressive and seem to lower the car approximately 2 inches, this seems a bit much. I am more interested in the Illuminas but the package is to cheap to pass up so I would like to get the southern hemisphere's opinion before I buy. Any info from anyone regarding Tokico would be great Cheers Mick Quote
luvemfast Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Let's not kid anyone on what the Tokico shocks are. And that is a budget shock. I have illumina's in the front and HP's in the rear, as illumina's aren't available for the rears of 280ZX's In saying that, it depends on what you want to do. Trackwork, street or cruising? I plan to upgrade to coil overs in the future, but pretty happy with the Tokico's overall. Granted, my car seems to have some sort of mechanical failure that reduces my lap count. So I would like to have more time driving it to give a better opinion. Bang for buck, they're hard to go past. Quote
DAZDA Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Shouldn't this be in the Suspension section?? The Tockico Illuminas I have appear to be more than up to the task. My only comments would be, make sure they are held in nice and tight, and surround them in light weight oil in the strut for heat transfer purposes. I have no experience with the Tockico spring but I can tell you the King Springs 'Low' (X5K type at least) use progressive springs on the front too. Quote
luvemfast Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Just import the shocks and get springs local. Would work out cheaper and better IMHO Maybe a mod can move to suspension? Quote
specialp3 Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Are 260z front struts the same as '73 240z ??? If so, I will have a pair of illumina's for sale in a few weeks, only been in the car for 3400 miles. $200.00 maybe. Quote
