Roberto Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Hi Guys, This one has me totally beat. I am replacing my transmission crossmember bushings with Energy Suspension Polyurethane. We pressed out the old ones, but the new ones don't fit properly. They are loose not snug like they should fit. I have checked the part number and they are the correct ones. What is going on here?? Has anyone else had this problem? It is a 240K gearbox, but the crossmember should still be original. HELP. Quote
zzzzed Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 i got the polyurethane kit through ebay from america mine fit fine. I would be asking for my money back Quote
Roberto Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 Is it possible that a 240k transmission crossmember was used with the 240K gearbox and these are slightly different to the 240/260Z crossmembers? Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 I wonder if your required to use the old outer sleeve of the old bush? That would be a bit strange though... Quote
Roberto Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 That thought crossed my mind but your right, it would be strange since the control arms don't do that. The inside diameter of my crossmember holes is 34mm. Does anyone have a 240/260Z crossmember they can measure for me to compare? The polyurethane bush diameter is 30mm. ZZZZed, did you reuse the outer sleeve on the original bushing? Quote
zzzzed Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 looks like you are hunting for another cross meber i just whent and checked yes i did use the outer sleves of the old bushes. do you still have the old bushes? m you can have them pressed back in Quote
Roberto Posted March 21, 2010 Author Posted March 21, 2010 Thanks. I will burn out the old rubber and press them back in. Cheers guys Quote
NZeder Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 With the energysuspension bushes both the gearbox and the moustache bar require you to leave the original sleeves in place (ie just burn out the old rubber and centre bit) when my car was at my brothers work shop I ask him to do just this but my Father popped over to help and told him rubbish you always press out the whole thing.....wrong with energysuspension replacements so I had to get new sleeves made to replace the ones I told them to leave in.....cost me a lot more than I wanted and if my brother had just followed my instruction in the first place my wallet would not be as light, just because at the time I did not have the time....lol Anyway on Energysuspensions site they have the fitting instruction in pdf format that tell you to leave the outer sleeve in place.
