sexual_sushi Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Hi guys, finally have some money to look at replacing the body on my daily driver, a 74 2+2. Ideally looking for another 74 2+2 with little to no rust (but will definitely consider other years). I don't need anything else but if it's rolling, I'm sure it would help for transport. Ideally in Queensland but will consider other states if the price is right (especially the Z mecca down in Victoria ). Any help would be greatly appreciated. If a cop pulls me over, my car will probably be off the road. Quote
waxhead Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Sushi what are the floors like in yours where is the rust can you call me on 0410665701 Quote

WogsRus Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 can't be no worse then mine, only thing holding the floor is the seat. LOL. Drivign back from vic i kept wandering why on earth the floor mats were floating in mid air. Quote
peter t Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Where the hell are you going to find a 74 with little or no rust. I have one if you want to check it out. Needs work but you may be able to salvage it. Very cheap also. Parts car that will go to the dump when stripped. Give us a shout. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Where the hell are you going to find a 74 with little or no rust. Unfinished projects. Believe it or not there have been a few over the years, I just didn't have the money then. I might have got my hands on one atm, should be picking it up next week hopefully but this might all fall through so keep on posting if you have one. Peter where's the rust in yours? My main concerns are the beaver (or slam) panel where the hatch closes, the hatch hinges and then anything in the chassis rails. Sounds like it might be a bit too much work, but thanks for the offer. I take it all of the panels have rust? I.e. no good guards or hood or hatch etc? Drivign back from vic i kept wandering why on earth the floor mats were floating in mid air Haha I like to think it's air-con for the feet I think he should change his user name to "Fred Flinstone" Is that because I make the bed... rock? peter t Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Its not good mate that why it's my parts car. I have seen worse out there but you seem to be in a hurry for a good one. Like I said it will go the dump when I strip it unless someone wants it. Quote
stevo_gj Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Is that because I make the bed... rock? Jeez guys keep it to the PMs! Quote
Scoota G Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 I wanna make the rear or a 2+2 into a trailer... Quote
. Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 That would be very cool. Let us know how it turns out. Quote
FuzzyDropbear Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I wanna make the rear or a 2+2 into a trailer... haha, I can see what's going to happen to my parts car!! But wasn't that the plan for the Celica? And we could tow it behind the Z to Toyota meets? lol. Kidding, that last part would be a bit mean Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 26, 2010 Administrators Posted February 26, 2010 The Trailer Option sounds cool man. Kind of like this Mini I found the other day. http://www.carzone.ie/search/Austin/Mini/1000-2DR/201004196738636/advert?channel=CARS You could also turn it into a sofa for your apartment. Quote
Brabham Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 You might be better off fixing up your shell, as most will have rust in the same places. Betweeen allzcar, rare spares and ebay you can get pretty much all the panels. It would prob not be much more work than switching all the gear across to a new shell. Cheers. Quote
peter t Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 My parts car is going to be a trailer or maybe a small caravan. Make that a camper trailer. What do you think lads? Quote
sexual_sushi Posted March 7, 2010 Author Posted March 7, 2010 Haha I'm all for over the top trailer co-coordinating, seems to be quite the thing for people with Mini's to do. Have seen a few in my time. But anyway Greg and I drove to Lismore today to pick up a shell. Overall pretty good condition, you can see where the plates have been welded in. Only real problems are the doors and the spare wheel well has been cut out and the hole filled. Easy fix though. Now I need to buy myself a decent Mig and a compressor and I'll be good to go... Quote
