Hi all long time reader and follower of alot of subjects on here

First car was a 1979 280zx (rust bucket)...understand these day why some people nock em

but it was my pride and joy at the time (and my misses loved it)

Have been missing the red deamon ever since!!

Sadly I sold it when i had the opoturnity to buy a toyoto soarer 2.5gt-tt (thats gone too now)

That was 9 years ago and i still have the poison from the bite of the z

These days i have my own empty double lock up garage and have been playing with the idea of a little project car

(by little i mean pouring $$, sweat, blood, tears, anger, years, heavy beer and a whole lot of swearing)

Have no idea of budget as yet nor the 240/260 2 seater to get starterd just waiting for the right one to pop up

hopefull soon ill have a car and pics to get started

In the mean time great forum..great pics and nice work all

;D

The common ritual here on auszcar is to make a donation to the car cause. SO, you  can donate your empty garage to me, cause i don't have one! lol.

welcome aboard, where are you located?

Welcome. Don't let people talk you out of a S130. They might be heavier than an S30 but they're still lighter than nearly everything on the roads these days. People bag the 280 without ever driving one. I love mine :).........No I won't sell it to you :P

Welcome mate.  S130s are sweet cruisers and if it weren't for them, people would be still kicking around using an L24/6, drum rears and a 7/8th brake MC.  :D

cheers

So you looking for an S30 240z / 260z or S130 280zx?

The 280zx had a relatively successful racing career in the US and was often entered in the under 2.5ltr class. They managed to extract around 700HP from a 2.5ltr turbo engine in a 280zx.

I think the 2 seater 280zx's were great the early steering rack with circulating ball is not as good as the rack and pinion.

Funny thing is the 280zx turbo auto version was quicker than the manual. The 280's can look good and perform well the only problem is many have been neglected now.

I know where there is a good S130 2 seater for sale in Sydney if your keen for something that goes like a scalded cat.

If I had the spare cash, and room, I would have snapped it up months ago.

Sorry guys new to forum...taking me a while to figure it out

Age:28

location s.e suburb Victoria

Heres the dream (sorry if it offends anyone)

Looking for 240z or a 260z 2 seater (S30)

Plan is to fit rb25...26 det

so motor and trans not important (pretty much suspension too)

interior want to keep fairly simple

maybe new seats modernise electrics (slightly)

Money will always be an issue time and storage is my only real strengh

Car wont be set up for racing more or less a car that i can hold on to forever as a 2nd car with alittle aggression for when it needed..wink wink

Its more about new cars not having any character hence the dream

when i had a soarer i was always never happy with it!!!

Sure you put your foot down and it went..

but there really wasn't any feel to it and it was around the time they started appearing everywhere

Once i was driving in the 280zx and a motorcycle pulled up next to me and asked me if it was a massera ti

OK he must of been a compete doosh bag but hey thats why he rides 2 wheels Note: I do enjoy riding motor cycles

No matter what car I've looked at or drove in the past (and may I ad I'm an interstate traveling sales rep who rents different cars all the time)I was aways comparing it to the zeds handling and style

when i was 16 i promise myself never to own a 4 door car...

I manage to keep that promise till the start of last year

I now drive a 2008 rav 4.....ducks for cover screaming "don't throw the ring spanners at me...ITS FOR WORK"

Best thing is my partners all for the project (or sick of me talking about it)

loved the 280zx when i had it and it did give me and my partner allot of fantastic road trips

but the s30 in my mind isn't as big of P***s enlargement as the s130 :P

Mate, Well said. But there is no reason to be ashamed of the Rav. Its horses for courses. Most cars have a purpose. The cars to be embarrased of are ones that don't achieve their purpose.

My daily drive is a Toyota Starlet. Compared to a Zed it is useless but as an econobox (its purpose) it is brilliant. Its cheap and zippy. I am just glad I can step into my S30 or S130 for the weekends :D

For the money, just do an RB25DET in my opinion. Sounds like it should be a nice car.

*Throws 1" ring spanner as hard as possible*

What, only 1"?  Its not just a Toyota, its a Rav4!  *Where's my 32mm gone..... why didn't I buy that spanner set that went up to 2.5 inch at the truckstop...*

In all seriousness, welcome aboard, and good luck with the search....  Sounds like your target car falls into the same category as mine (minus the RB conversion).... fairly cheap and shabby, something to take up space in the garage for years while everything comes together....
