BobsYourUncle Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I've got a quick question: Is it normal/typical to have different keys for the doors, ignition and rear hatch on a 240/260? That is, three unique keys? It seems a bit strange to me, like it could mean that locks have been replaced? Quote
George Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 i have two. one for ignition and the other for door/hatch/fuel. Quote
stewk240 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Yep, I have got 3 as well...pain in the @#*!...doors, boot (+ tank) and ignition. Quote
Lynton Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Somewhere along the line the barrels have been changed, when new, the key for the doors and hatch all worked together, the ignition key was individual and the glove box key was individual also. Lynton Quote

George Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Like knowing George..............sorry mate. don't be sorry, it was funny so you must be scared. you just know i'm going to thrash your z in my 50cc motorcycle. that's right it's a motorcycle! Quote
ChiprZ Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 whilst i only have 1 key for everything, I can only unlock the drivers door but can't lock with a key, and I can't unlock the passenger door but can lock. So when i park have to get out go around to the passenger door, climb in and reach accross to lock the drivers door and then lock the passenger door. Pain in the ass... Go keyless entry!!! Quote
Mr240z Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Go keyless entry!!! Leave the windows down......&.....George has clean socks. Quote
fufu Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 My first Z has 3 keys(1 for doors, 1 for boot and fuel lid and 1 for start). My second z has 4 keys(1 for doors, 1 for boot, 1 for fuel lid and 1 for start). Though the door locks are all busted so it's time for a change. Quote
Aaron Neubauer Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 One key for doors/boot and one key for ignition here. I didn't know there where two different keys when I bought the 240 and it nearly drove me insane when I couldn't lock the car when I got to my destination. I think the bystanders and onlookers were suitably amused by my reaction. Quote
