So I brought another 240Z for a daily....

Got it for a mere bargain of $1600. Main reason for the purchase was so I could interchange parts with the DevilZ. This would save me a shit load of money. But at the same time I needed to get a daily happening so I thought I'd get it on the road as the Devil Z is being a lady taking her time, to look pretty.

I haven't had much chance to play with her so I don't know the full details as of yet.

The seller was desperate to have it sold as he is leaving for New York, early July 09.

Please take note it's a bit rusted but nowhere near as bad as my Devil Z. Also damn hell of a lot cheaper then the Devil Z when she was first purchased.

History about the car. It was restored about 5 years ago, but rust is already coming through on the rear quarter. Other then that structurally it is fine. It was also broken into about 8 months ago and the door locks were busted. Failing to get in they kicked in the doors, around the handles. They stole the stereo system. I will need to get minor rust fixed, tyres, battery, brakes and side mirrors(they also kicked these off ). This should enable me to get it on the road.

More pics to come, when I get a chance to play with her a little more. At present all I'm doing is fondling her wounds... poor dents... *stroke stroke*

I guess its time for some more pics?

Here we go.

That sunroof doesn't leak. Amazing considering I've heard bucket loads of stories about sunroofs leaking.

IMG_1969.jpg

The not so fabulous interior. Perfect dash as you can see, no cracks. Such a bargain.

IMG_1970.jpg

Underneath the seat covers we have a perfect condition series 2 cloth seats. I'll be using these seat covers for the Devil Z. As the vinyl seats are in a horrible state.

IMG_1971.jpg

Drivers side floor. No rust. SWEET!!!

IMG_1977.jpg

Passenger side floor. No rust. SUPER SWEET!

IMG_1972.jpg

Engine is a L26, the engine bay is in horrible state with grease and oil everywhere. It even covered up the chassis number. Going to get my hands dirty cleaning that up.

IMG_1973.jpg

Another pic of the engine bay.

IMG_1976.jpg

Something about these muscle wheels suits the car.

IMG_1965.jpg

As you can see the dickheads kicked in the door.

IMG_1960.jpg

Both sides kicked in.

IMG_1961.jpg

Got some bubbles and a few nasty paint areas which I shall try and get fixed up. Firewalls has paint peeling, going to need to sand back and paint.

Going to buy a few things. Check fluids and hopefully will get it started today or tomorrow. Give it a little drive and see as well. The green is definitely growing on me.

Sensational buy....

I guess that makes a few of us GREEN with envy......... ;D

You should really see whats happening in the sales post over at OCAU.

Some guy is putting on a sore loser fit over there. Over the fact i didn't say "instant" and he thinks its an etiquette over there. But it's all good, i put him in his place.

Need to be a OCAU member for more then 3 months to be able to access that part of the site and that thread.

The aggression starts on page 2 upon the seller announcing he would sell it to me.

However i'll just do a small snippet of my rebuttal.

Umm i bid instant, hence i was super keen to pay $1600.

I was referring to your first post in this thread. Explained below.

I was super keen on restoring this car and bid instant in the thread...(

I understand you bidded instant after i had pmed and posted "Ready for a quick transaction" but sadly i got in there first. Secondly if you were so keen by stating "I was super keen on restoring this car..." then your first post(quoted below) in this thread should have said instant not the one after mine.

I'll offer reserve, love these cars!

Would make a nice ongoing project to keep in the garage.

This quote should have been "I'll offer instant, love these cars!"

if saying instant first in this thread counts for anything

you wrote this, knowing full well this could have gone another path. In other words your kicking up a storm of what boils down to be 'spilt milk'

... but was sadly beaten by a pm bidder (what ever happened to buy/sell forum etiquette?) from a member of another forum...i'm so upset...:

"from a member of another forum" you wrote this. Quite frankly if you've had an account with OCAU for less than 3 months this section won't be accessible. Yes i may be a lurker but I am a member none the less. I am a member of many forums. You could have written that quote for majority of the OCAU community. Are you telling me your only a member of 1 forum?

can someone please forward me a link to buying and selling etiquette for OCAU. I would very much like to read it for the next time i buy off OCAU.

I've read all the stickies and i just can't find anything in regards to this matter. I've been apart of many forums from ozhonda, nissansilvia, hachiroku, ae86dc, toyotaownersclub and have yet to see anything in regards to forum buying/selling etiquette.

After that the argument died down and he admitted to having a cry, i guess.

FUFU thats a bargain  :o

like yourself i like those old school wheels. bit of autosol on them they will look sensational.

i got a set of 15"  Dragway pros for the 240z. need a bit of polish but should come good. not as shiny as the picture attached but look the same.

while u at it since the locks are busted. weld the holes and install central lock. that way bastards wont be tempted to break into the car.

looks like a nice mini project for you.

i just noticed on your pics. are the wheels differnt on the opposite side?

You have very good eyes.

Yep that's the spare on the rear passenger side. The 4th rim hasn't got tires at the moment. That will change soon. All rims are in mint condition and I had a play around with them yesterday. It's just dust and dirt. I wiped a layer off and its shiny chrome underneath. But i'll hit it with autosol just to be safe.

Well Fufu, you would hope that other disgruntled member on the overclockers forum will learn "you snooze, you loose!" If you want something bad enough, instead of just posting "I'll would like to offer xxxxx" you would PM, I'm coming to grab it now!!" You won he lost...

As I always say to customers it only sold when I got the buck in my hand. Otherwise it every man for him self here in the deep south below the border.

Today I got off my fat arse and decided to get the old gal running.

Shopping list (don't worry i did my price checks and bought my products from both Supercheap and Bursons as it saved me a good $20)

Quick stop at Bursons for Redline Water Wetter to help prevent corrosion.

Quick stop at Supercheap for a century 67 battery, oil filter, Penrite HPR40.

Quick stop at woolworths caltex for 15 dollars worth of petrol.

About an hour later the old girl purred into life once more. Took a good 4-5 turns of the key for it to start. Quickly checked the oil and the oil level just plummeted. So I turned the gal off and topped her up. Turned her back on and left it there till it warmed up and checked the oil level again and topped it to the line.

Did a quick electrical check. Most of them are working. Need to change 1 indicator, 2 brake lights, 1 interior light. My wipers didn't budge so I need to get that sorted as well.

But the good news is she starts on first go now.

That's all I have time for her today. Tomorrow I'll tackle the brakes. Another thing on the agenda for tomorrow is to check out the wipers as i believe they seem to be seized. They budged about 2 cms when turned on and then stopped there.

bloody nice buy fufu.

dont worry about OCAU, i find the whole forum generally to be a bunch of 12 year old twats, with 1 or 2 exceptions.

There is a thread in their motoring section about rotaries thats worth a read for a laugh if you have an hour or so to kill.

This one could possibly be a dodgy wiper switch (try wiggling it round, and different speed settings to see it starts again), or a bad connection/fuse in the wiring.... Easy things to check out before forking out for another wiper motor.
