I've been looking on google and no luck so far. I need to replace the centrepiece horn button on my formuling wheel. The wheel is in perfect condition and I don't want to replace it if I can avoid it.

Anyone know a place in australia that may deal with these ?

Cheers

OK Just in case anyone was wondering, turns out these are pretty much impossible to get! The only way to get them is buy a second hand steering wheel with one already on it.

Anyone want a really good condition formuling wheel/boss kit, minus the horn button ? :)

I have a Nardi wheel boss that annoys me because the centre button doesn't sit in it very well at all.

I might be interested in yours if it fits a Nardi Torino wheel.

The problem with these wheels is that they don't fit anything else. So you need a boss kit which fits only this type of wheel.

I have some spare horn buttons, can you put up a pic of your boss and maybe take the pic with a ruler sitting over the opening (that the button pushes into).

I've got the same problem Kalium, It's a Huge hole to fill, I was going to get one whipped up on the lathe and put a button for the horn on the dash??

Problem is that I need to get mine through a roadworthy, and a horn on the dash wouldn't cut it I don't think :-P

Easier just to bite the bullet and get another boss kit and wheel me thinks.

a horn button on the dash is perfectly legal.

you could make up a plate to cover it and mount a regular horn button, like suggested,

OR you could spend $80 on a boss kit, and between $80-300 for a new wheel.

Huh, well there you go. Never would have thought that they would allow it!

I would be be pretty stoked if you did have a wheel centre that was the right fit. It looks to be just under 10cm across. These things are pretty uncommon though, and not at all similar to the ones that most people use these days.

guys good news and bad news.

good new i found it. bad news its not as good as i thought it was. prob was but me stupid idiot didnt store it properly. been squashed by few other parts. and the horn button is cracked.

also its rubber liek material and its very brittle. i tried pulling the horn off but it will take lot more patience and care.

see pics. not sure if someone can make copy of the button. as u can see the horn mechanism is present.

sorry guys. not sure if u can do anything with it maybe someone can make a mould of it and make a reproduction.

i think they were sold by sprints auto parts and in SA by Rocca Bros now Supercheap Auto. maybe pay visit to sprints auto parts store and hopefully u can find a helpfull attendant.

Tip look for a guy thats at least in his 40s and worked at the store for many years.  possibly Repco too.

sorry to say it but you wont find formuling parts through any parts store.

the young guys dont know what it is, and the old guys all know its NLA.

all of the formuling stuff was bought up when the company folded, and as far as i know, it was all scrapped.

The only place you'll find bits now is at swap meets, garage sales and rubbish tip recycling joints.

Yep, that's exactly how my horn pad looked....before it fell completely apart.

I actally talked to a guy who was looking at getting them made up. Reckoned it was too expensive...
