I travel from Picton to Coffs Harbour roughly once a month for work and usually drive the zed up. Its made 5 trips now, roughly 1100km return, all without a single problem!

As I am sure people am aware of, its flooding on the North Coast at the moment, and being a little stupid I came anyway. I drove up to Port Macquarie, the across to Walcha, to Armidale, Glen Innes, Grafton, finally arriving Coffs Harbour. I left at 5am and didnt arrive until 5:30pm!

The zed was awesome, though I now realise I need a spoiler because the front gets very light at 150km/hr  8) I got to drive some pretty spectacular roads though!

Anyone else done regular long trips in their zed?

thats encouraging to hear, and when i saw you, you said you were worried about a few things too.

yeah front spoiler makes a massive difference on the freeway, at least i noticed it held the road much better when i installed mine.

I went from sydney to Kempsey in 1 trip (The time we met at denos, the 2 days after...) and the only problem was my starter motor dying...

I love the freeway, some guy was going over 150km/h in front of me so I just followed a few hundred metres before me...)

Nice to hear someone else is taking their Zs on the long roads. I've just made a post in the NSW forum about my plans to travel from Bris->Syd in the end of June, and I'm really looking forward to it.  :)

Well if any of you NSW & ACT guys are keen on some big klms in your Zeds then come on down to Vic in Feb 2010 for our Tassie trip and jump on the boat with us for another 1,400klms around the Apple Isl.

I was worried about a oily cylinder but an oil change and its gone! An involuntary oil change on a servo floor  8)

I think I need the spoiler, at 110km it gets noticably lighter, when faster the rear feels pushed down and the front lifts - get skitish....

I travel 1000km round trips in the zed a lot... I have done 25,000km in it since december with a minimum of fuss... I do fix/replace all the normal problems before they raise their heads. E.g. new fuel hoses, filters, change oil in diff and bix, check seals regularly....

I drove from Warwick to Sydney in one hit with a colapsed lung. Ended up in Hornsby Hospital for April 2007....That was the last holiday I took......oh and the zed had to sit in front of my brothers house the whole time.

when i did full rebuild of my zed back in 1990 used the first z car nationals in brisbane as my incentive to finish car this was total rebuild every bolt removed from car new wheels tyres brakes springs seats paint carpet the lot oh and jap import nissan v8 with one off manual conversion drove car 100 km in tassie then loaded it on ferry to melbourne and drove 1600 km to brisbane in two days still cant believe i did it and that car went perfect never missed beat raced it around lakeside and drove home

Even hit floods on way back at one stage near parkes had to drive through flood water was up over wheels and car just chugged through fine water pressure did crack spoiler though but got me home again

was even one near new mazda pulled over had just stopped after driving through flood but zed ran sweet ass anything

Well, I made it back! Another 800km! So almost 2000km in 3 days!

I left Coffs, drove over to Armidale via Waterfall Way (has some decent sections but pretty bumpy), then down the New England Highway to Muswellbrook and Singleton....

THE PUTTY ROAD!!!!!!!!!! OMG, everytime I have driven this road I have had passengers, not this time... Being 9pm at night there was NO traffic, so I let loose the turbo, lit the tyres and zoomed into oblivion....

Well, until 40km along the 170km long road it fogged up and started torrential rain... That bit sucked...

Nevertheless, I love the zed for its reliability, fun factor and ability to give my spine a thorough pain that hasnt gone away a day later....

I drove from makey to Wollongong, to get mine back home afterbuying it. Could not wipe the smile off my face the hole way. The only problem I had was when my friend accidently kicked loose some wires for the rely. that was about 1800km drive

The cold air sucking through the Weber's.....How good does it get..

The whole trip the zed didn't miss a beat.

The whole trip was about 5000m....

P.S my coffee didn't even get cold.

I used to drive from Canberra to Seymour in Vic pretty often.  This was just after I did the engine conversion and I was getting about 7-8L per 100km.  It just cruised and  would barely even need to move the accelerator for hills.  I would do it again, but I need ear muffs now :(  They aren't comfy, but damn they are sweet to drive.
