chartoo Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Hello I'm currently fitting some zg flares to my car atm and i was also looking at some pics of the new 370z wide body. i really like the way that the flare have a big lip on the edge like most modern cars and started to wonder if it would look good on my zg's. Here is the 370z pic And a few bad photo shop ideas of the zg with a lip. Tell me what you think? Standard small lip Medium lip Big arse lip Quote
Cdr Zero Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 FYI that 370Z Widebody isn't real, it's a 'buildable concept' artwork by Jonsibal. Cool idea, I think it would work better if you smoothed over the bolt-holes in the flares. Quote
chartoo Posted April 28, 2009 Author Posted April 28, 2009 Yeah i would def bog over the holes and maybe blend it into the body. I was thinking about it last nite and the only prob i can think of is that the wider lips at the bottem of the flares wont flow into the old wheel arch lines..if you know what i mean. Quote
acf321 Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 Porsche's 930 is one of the better interpretation of a 'fat bum' car ever, I think. Might be worth having a look at how they did it so successfully. Quote
Toecutter Posted April 28, 2009 Posted April 28, 2009 I think with the early 911 the pumped gaurds were originally used for racing purposes to allow for bigger wheels and tyres but it later took off on the marketing front with a lot of non turbo cars just getting the look as thats what the yuppies wanted at the time. Interesting though to see a shape of a car follow due to a necasity of racing and not some designers idea looking for a better look hey!? And a classic shape thats lasted at that! Sulio Quote
Add Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Please dont flame me for this suggestion but what about using vw bettle guards (original) and cutting the correct section out of those. All the shape and lip is there just need to choose how wide and the correct section to cut out. Just an idea that i'm putting out there . This is a metal flare design that one of the ppl on Hybridz is making at the moment. Curious to see the end result to be honest. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=147383 MSA sells the flare kit with no bolt holes on the outside (not sure how you fasten them, wouldn't trust any adhesive that much). NZeder Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 These are custom one off metal flares on my zed - they are wider than the your normal ZG - this might given you an idea on what a wider ZG flare looks like Quote

There is a guy onn hybridz that has doen this with vw flares. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2939350 Look great but beyond my metal skills atm. I want bigger lips on my zgs no a wider zg, can order them of hybridz. Quote
chartoo Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 Standard small lip Medium lip Big arse lip Which size lip would look best do people think? i think the medium sized ones are a good compromise and practical to make and make look good but the big ones have a certain flare pardon the pun Quote
NZeder Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I have linked to some of the pics of the car with VW flares below Quote
chartoo Posted May 1, 2009 Author Posted May 1, 2009 Hah i could def weld them on and bog it up but i dont think it could cut and shape the guard down to what it needs to be. but def a beautiful car indeed! Quote
