Scottz Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Well, I thought I would have a quick look at Ben's parts list and prices for a few things like Carbon Fiber Flares, Windscreen Cowl and Bonnet. Instead I find a very pressing request from an international visitor. So I'll wait for that to be cleared first..... Dear Nayef, I am really interested to see your C110. Do you have a picture that you could share with us? How many miles / kilometers has it done? I think it must be very unique to require "tow mirrors". Or do you mean JDM style fender mirrors, just like the ones on the white gtr in the photo you attached ? The owner of the white gtr would be very pleased to know you are admiring his car. Now - are you based in UAE ? Because the white gtr has Qld rego and plates. Maybe you spotted it while on holidays at the Gold Coast ? Or did you have a friend send the photo to you? What engine have you got in your C110. The original one or something modified? I guess you're the only guy with an old Skyline in the UAE. In fact in the UAE you can get a new GTR for half what we pay in Australia. Our government is taxing the life out of us, while yours doesn't even want tax. I wish we had shiver loads of oil like you guys. No, instead we have uranium, iron ore and coal. And a freakin’ government that can't even insulate a house. WTF hey ! Wishing you all the best with your project and good luck with your search for parts. Regards, Scottz Quote
luvemfast Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Yeah, it does seem suss, but he could be legit. These old Skylines are huge over there. A guy I bought a car off was sending them over there as his source of income, what would be worth $5-10K here is selling for $30k+ there. Quote

Not available, except for used genuine GT-R, which is double the price. 5. Watanabes don't get much cheaper with age. 6. Full twin system is $1100 in mild steel, $1800 full stainless Quote

BenZed Posted February 14, 2011 Author Posted February 14, 2011 do restored or anyone do skyline c10 panels ( steel fg or cf ) and do you get deal in c10 parts ta will Bonnet, front guards, cowl top, fuel lid, front spoiler, bootlid, doors (2-door and 4-door version), front apron, rear apron, bumpers, light cover (race type), rear panel, flares (original, 15mm wider, semi works and full works versions) Quote
renaissance Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 got this to fix... rear lower panel / doors/ bottom rear of front fenders, is there a rust patch , are fenders easy to get ? etc etc what size are these flares.? [/img] Quote
BenZed Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Restored don't do steel repair panels, but they can supply the following parts you need: Fibreglass rear apron ($283) and rear panel ($472). Attached pic is a carbon rear panel. Fibreglass complete front guards $1070 pair. Those are normal GT-R rear flares for the GC10 Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 16, 2011 Moderators Posted February 16, 2011 Hey Ben, another question re the carbon bonnets, do you know if they are full carbon or with a FRP frame? Quote
BenZed Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Hey Ben, another question re the carbon bonnets, do you know if they are full carbon or with a FRP frame? You can order FRP, carbon on FRP or full carbon from Restored. As for the other mob, still waiting for confirmation, probably just carbon over FRP. Quote
BenZed Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Ok I just got two bonnets in, one is a full carbon 240Z bonnet from restored (on the right side of the pic, $1750), the other is an Aerodesu carbon-over-FRP bonnet ($960). Aerodesu is now the Otomoto brand for carbon parts I have found from suppliers other than Restored. The Restored bonnet is extremely light at only 4.59kg, but also noticeably more flexible than the other bonnet, with only one thin layer of FRP used to help the single layer of carbon keep its shape. The carbon frame is well finished with threads in place for the bonnet latch and long bolts supplied to suit the thick hinge mounts. Along the edges there is perhaps more resin than needed, but overall a very good bonnet. The Aerodesu bonnet weighs 5.91kg and thanks to two thicker layers of fibreglass behind the carbon it is noticeably more rigid. The fibreglass frame is painted matt black which helps the appearance, though some of the edges are a bit sharp. It doesn't have any threads for the bonnet latch so you will need to use bolts. The hinge mounts are still fibreglass, but a bit thinner than on the Restored bonnet so you can use the normal bolts. The carbon surface looks just as good as the Restored bonnet as they are both hand-laid, but arguably better at the edges with less excess resin. Hope this extra info helps people make a decision Quote
BenZed Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Another part I just got in is a Restored FRP rear hatch. I got this because I wasn't happy with the locally-made hatch I have on my car now. It has all threads pre-fitted to the fibreglass and a very good black gelcoat finish on the outside. The frame has no coating but like the bonnet in my last post it has all of the bolt threads pre-fitted. The hatch weighs just 2.83kg. When I remove the other hatch I will weigh it for comparison, but I am sure already that this one is much lighter. A standard steel hatch without the window or rubber is 8.91kg Quote
RB30X Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Wow thats a huge weight saving. Good info Ben. Quote
