modular9 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 if one of my clients decides to pay an invoice sometime in the next millennium, I am there with knobs on. 15x7 fronts and 15x8 rear. I seem to remember that you could get someone to anodise/powder coat the centers? Is this still true or am I dreaming of red rimmed time attack volks ? Mike. Quote

BenZed Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 Since I just sold three sets of 17x8.5 I have only one set of these left, but everything else there is plenty of stock. Quote
BenZed Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Just tried a variety of wheels on my car. 15x7 front and 15x8 rear fits well. 16x7 front and 16x8 rear (pictured) fits very well and looks good too. the 16x8 needs a 4mm spacer to clear the hub at the front but the centre cap still won't fit on. 17x8.5 will bolt on at the front without a spacer, but you would need very stretched tyres to clear the spring (or coilovers) so again a 4mm spacer makes things easy and the center cap will fit. Rota Grid 16x8 +10 wheels will bolt straight on at the front but again the wheel is very close to the spring so a spacer will allow you to fit a decent tyre size (or you could change to coilovers). BenZed Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Here's 15x7 front and 15x8 rear. The tyres are too small (195/60 front and rear) but that's all I had lying around. I would suggest 205/60 front and 225/55 rear if you can get them. Quote
modular9 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Thanks for the shot of the 15's RBs . That has made my mind up over the 16's. You are right however the 225/50/15 options in tyres are a little hard to find. I will jump on these when I got some spare coin. Quote
S30Mike Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I know this is probably a silly question, but is there any possibility there would be a configuration of the offset on the 17" ones on the 16" ones? I just think that 17" is too big but it has the perfect offset, and i would definatly go for the 16" ones if they had that offset. (-13, -19) Quote

(-13, -19) Yes that would be nice, like having RS Watanabes but a lower price per rim I would be keen on that would be nice to have 2 sets of rims but my one set of RS Watanabes in 16x8.5 and 16x9.5 killed the rim budget a long time ago. This does of cause rely on tyre manufactures still marketing/making the 245/45/16 which I hope the do given they were standard fitments on some cars Quote
S30Mike Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Yes that would be nice, like having RS Watanabes but a lower price per rim Exactly! hahaha. I will prob just have to use hubcentric spacers to fill my flares, not paying for watanabes. Quote

(-13, -19) It is possible, but I would have to pay the factory US$10k for each new mould, so I would need to be very sure of selling them Quote
NZeder Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 It is possible, but I would have to pay the factory US$10k for each new mould, so I would need to be very sure of selling them That is a big investment with the $$ the way it is currently (well the NZ Passo that is, we are under $.50 to the USD ) I think if that was to happen I would be happy with just 1 size not a staggered sizing. So with that in mind if this was to happen I vote for the following 16 x 9 -15 in the RB-R style I know RS Watanabes are -13 but the -15 will give a little more lip and for those with stock spring perches a bit more room too and move the lip more to the outside of a ZG Flare. This will allow for the fitment of 245/45/16 on all 4 corners or if you want the stretched look 225/45 or 225/50 as I know a 225/45 will fit on a 9" rim as this is what I had on my 240z when I had the 16x9 arrow rims on it.
