datsunnyit Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Hello everyone from Datsunnyit from Italy. I wanted information about the position lights and front indicators installed under the front bumper inside the front volance. Are these lights ok for 240z and 260z? or are there differences? An Australian seller on Ebay sold a pair in June. What are the differences with the lights for the US market? What other versions are there in Australia and the rest of the world? i saw clear lenses and orange lenses are all original nissan or replicas? Are they also rare in Australia? Are there other people looking for these lights for their Z? Thank you Quote
gilltech Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Typically the 240Z and 260Z units are different. Turn indicator arrangements varied depending on which market the Z car was sold in and what the local regulations required or accepted for that year of car. Quote
datsunnyit Posted August 11, 2022 Author Posted August 11, 2022 I want to have info, because I want to change the aesthetic aspect (lights) of the 240z. The Italian version had different lights from the Europe ones with orange light above the bumper. The Italian version had white lights attached under the bumper (they were made in Italy position light and arrow lights). These lights are not found and they are ugly for me. Lights with better aesthetics are USA from factory front orange lights. Other similar or better lights are in Australia with clear / orange lenses. Did these lights in Australia come from the factory? correct? Anyone want to buy (and sell) these lights? if so, it knows where to look. (I think) In Australia how many types of these front lights (clear / orange are there? Thank you Quote
gilltech Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 (edited) I suspect what you are wanting is the Australian or NZ market 260Z unit (valance mounted) with the two bulbs and clear full lens with smaller orange lens panel behind which provides both a white sidelight and an orange turn indicator, correct? (ie. nothing bumper mounted). To replace the local Italian market arrangement. Would the 260Z unit be legal today on a Italian market 240Z? Best you post an image of what your current Italian-market arrangement is so we can see what you are talking about. Used 260Z sidelight units in this part of the world still in good usable condition are becoming harder to find. All too often the steel lens screws are rusty which makes a real mess of the lens and the housing. I've seen reproduction replacement lenses for sale from time to time though, but don't know where they are made or who by. Edited August 11, 2022 by gilltech Quote
csp-311 Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Datsunnyit, Reproduction below the bumper, fitting in the corner front valance are available, indicator only, no side light, either in orange or clear lens. Quote
gilltech Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 (edited) Yes those for the 240Z are available from the usual USA suppliers. But sounds like Datsunnyit is wanting the valance-mounted two bulb unit. Which was fitted to 260Zs destined for NZ and Australia (and maybe some other markets). IMO a cleaner looking set-up to the various different indicator arrangements on USA, UK and European market cars. Edited August 12, 2022 by gilltech Quote
datsunnyit Posted August 13, 2022 Author Posted August 13, 2022 in Italy it is important to have the lights with the right colors. Mine is just a question of aesthetics pleasing to the eye. Quote

gilltech Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 Hmm, neither of those set-ups look nice do they, both look like the add-ons they are. I totally agree with the direction you wish to go! Bear in mind that if you do obtain a pair of the Australian / NZ spec two bulb 260Z units then you will need either the valance corner panels with the cut-outs to house them, or get a template off one of us so you can cut out your existing ones. datsunnyit Posted August 14, 2022 Author Posted August 14, 2022 I need these but with clear lens. see ebay link sold time ago https://www.ebay.com/itm/185455674299?hash=item2b2e0503bb%3Ag%3A-kcAAOSwuQdin02G&nma=true&si=5Z4UdhVTROjRyNdI7r04gPPpa2g%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 eBay: 185455674299 but 880 US$ is normal price or expensive ? gilltech Posted August 15, 2022 Posted August 15, 2022 (edited) Well the sale price must have been realistic for NOS (new old stock) items that are some 50 years old, as there were 49 bids so someone was determined to get them at all costs. If you find a good used set but with the orange lenses then reproduction clear lenses are made here in Australia and available via eBay, so that's an option. Edited August 15, 2022 by gilltech Quote
datsunnyit Posted August 15, 2022 Author Posted August 15, 2022 the lights sold on Ebay also include the side lights on the fenders which are perhaps new which can be given a value of 100US $. The headlights under the bumper are used and well maintained. They are used as seen from the oxidized screws at the ends. (where the screwed nut was present, the thread is more polished (not oxidized) Who makes clear lenses in Australia? do you have a link? Quote
gilltech Posted August 15, 2022 Posted August 15, 2022 (edited) The clear lenses you ask about are on eBay Australia presently. PS. In your 4 photos, which one is your car, the one with the bumper over-riders or the one without? Edited August 15, 2022 by gilltech question added Quote
datsunnyit Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 my z is not in the pictures, but ufficialy sold from the dealer in years '70 with little clear lens ( italian product used in other italian car) visible in a car test with Fittipaldi. The Italian market not have the over - riders, in the picture probably is Alfa Romeo over riders. Quote
