redrbzed Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Recently I replaced my old Gibson group A turbos with a pair Garrett ball bearing -7 turbos. In the process I updated my intake plumbing and fitted a new 3.5in mandrel bent exhaust with a 3in straight through Magnaflow muffler. The exhaust was made at Mufflers and More on High St. Ashburton (conveniently just at the end of my street). I was very happy with the work of Glen (a Zed owner and enthusiast). Had the car dynoed on Tuesday and am very happy with the result, 320.5kW ATW. The car made more power at a lower boost and on 98 octane fuel not the 100 octane Shell VPower Racing which was a very good fuel but no longer available. Previously the engine made 307kW ATW on same dyno.(Racepace in Bayswater). Quote
68GTCS Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 WOW! Reckon my zed might be able to match your output at idle around 5k! Quote
George Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 very good result. that thing should be an animal. vids? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 12, 2009 Moderators Posted February 12, 2009 What a tight fit of the muffler! Its a miracle they got it to fit... well done on the results; next time we have some blackouts again, your zed can supply some Kw's! Quote
redrbzed Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 Sorry George no vids. Maybe I should talk to Dimitri he has a little camera! What do you think Dimitri? Quote
zedevan Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 ...wanna swap? what sort of 1/4 mile times have you previously run? and what modifications have you made to the fuel tank/system? Quote
Cdr Zero Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 What sort of engine is it? RB of some kind I'm guessing? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 12, 2009 Moderators Posted February 12, 2009 No problem Sinisha, are you running at Calder this weekend? I could bring all the equipment down and install it. Takes about 10 minutes. Quote
stevo_gj Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 You should make up a thread showing your build, I really like reading about rb26s Quote
redrbzed Posted February 13, 2009 Author Posted February 13, 2009 Zedevan, the tank has a small surge bowl which feeds into a filter then a Carter lift pump, this feeds a 2 litre surge tank that goes in to a Bosch 600HP pump. The last time I ran down the 1/4 mile I had about 220 RWkW and did a 11.76@120MPH. Dimitri, thanks for the offer but I can't make it to Calder, maybe next Sandown. Stevo_gj, I have had the car for about 18 years, the RB26 was installed 10 years ago. Here are a couple of pics. Quote
Scando Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Very nice! Power delivery still looks quite reasonable from the dyno graph too? That is a very nice exhaust job! Work of art. Quote
redrbzed Posted February 14, 2009 Author Posted February 14, 2009 Thanks Scando, very happy with the response of the new turbos. A flat torque curve like that makes for a very drivable track car. pic of car on dyno with the legendary Ben from Racepace twiddling the knobs. Quote
