modular9 Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I reckon it would be a good idea for people who are interested to put in dates. SOOO I will start. My availability Any saturday or sunday from july 11 ( inclusive ) If there is a vote on a day/time and I aint around, my standing vote would be a 10 am -ish at a bbq spot on sunday ( not wedded to a bbq but i see some meets organised by other clubs and they seem to do that ) . With maybe an option of a pub afternoon at a pub, central to everyone and public transport. Please note mr constabulary I am advocating going home and then going back out sans datto. Mike Quote
sexual_sushi Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I think I'm going to the Gold Coast on the 18th for a friends birthday so if we do it then I would be thinking 10am Saturday or 2pm onwards on Sunday I like the idea of the BBQ, but I'm easy. Quote
dougybe Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 OK, any sunday BBQ suits me from the 19th. If you guys want to do it earlier go for it. Quote
. Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 hey, just an idea The next multi club Motorkhana is July 12. They have a BBQ all set up. We could meet there and watch all the tyre smoke, have some snags or a burger. And because its a multiclub day you are quite welcome to take rides as a passenger in my car or any other car whose driver will allow it. Quote
modular9 Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 sounds good . < found the thread i need to find about the come and try motorkhana > I still would like a bit of a z meet though. Can I bring along the busted head gasket as proof i have a datto albeit broken ? Quote
Jospef Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 I'll be up on the weekend of the 11th. What exactly is this Motorkhana and where is it? Quote
waxhead Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 hell yeah this sounds good Im going to go to this Quote
Zedback Posted June 24, 2009 Posted June 24, 2009 What exactly is this Motorkhana and where is it? See the separate thread in the Qld section for details of the event. It's held at the driver training center behind the Willowbank dragstrip outside Ipswich (Champions Way, Willowbank). A Motorkhana is a single vehicle timed event where you navigate a specific course around a number of flags in the shortest possible time. Runs are typically 20 - 50 seconds long and it's harder than it looks, everything happens very quickly. Motorkhanas can and are run in almost any car. I've done them in my 280zx, a little Honda City and a humungous Honda Legend Coupe. There was a family that were turning up last year in a '60s Alfa sedan with more body roll than a water bed. This year they've picked up a rough lotus clubman replica. SO COME AND HAVE A GO!!! Have a look at the animations at the bottom of this page: http://hsccq.asn.au/about.html and check out Galderdi in action: We could meet at the Orion shopping centre at Springfield and then head out? Quote
. Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Is anyone considering competing in the motorkhana? (appart from Mike and Me). If so PM me ASAP so I can forward the forms to you. Quote
stevo_gj Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Hey guys, I'm back in Brisbane 13th July (Monday) and will be keen for a meet up in either weekend following it. Perhaps we can have the BBQ one weekend? I am currently in ACT so I have intermittent net access until I get back. Have fun at the Motokhana, Steve Quote
garvice Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Is this the same steve that use to live in Brisbane? I thought he had defected to NSW. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Yeah i remember some bloke called Steve, younger chap, preferred men I believe :S Quote
sexual_sushi Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 So everyone still keen for motokhana? I probably won't get there until the runs start at about 1030 maybe even a tiny bit later, Saturday is my sleep in day after not getting enough sleep all week Quote
modular9 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 i'll chime in and say still on for a weekend meet and bbq. Cant make the gymkhana which is a wee bit annoying. Quote
Zedback Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Looks like both Greg and I will be there having a go. I'll be figuring out how to make the z32 dance Hope to see some of you there. Come along and jump in someones car as a passenger, you can do that at a 'come and try' event. If you're coming, it's behind the stands of the drag strip around where the driver training center is. Cheers, Mike Quote
. Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Guys, Just incase you change your mind you can still attend. You can even sign the papers and pay on the day. *****However you must organise a third party extension during the week. Your insurer will not provide one on the weekend**** If you are unsure about attending I recommend getting the extention anyway that way your options remain open right up to the start time. Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 So what does the extension actually cover? And why is it needed? Quote
Zedback Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I gather that this only applies in Qld , and only for road registered cars, it covers injury to persons only. Normal CTP insurance covers you up to the edge of the "pits" or non-racing track area. CAMS insurance covers you once you're on the track. In between, if you hit someone, you need a CTP extension to be covered by insurance. Without it, no club will let you compete because they then are the next most likely to be sued for damages. If you have CTP with Suncorp just walk into a branch and ask them for a "rally extension" to your CTP, costs nothing. You will need to provide them with the name of the event, the date, your name and the make, model and rego of your car. Takes about 10 minutes for them to fart-arse around printing and signing the letter. Some insurers will do it via fax and some charge a fee, won't know till you ask. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Sorry Greg and zedback I think I might have to bail as well. I'm doing some photo shoots on Saturday and Sunday plus some urgent other work More money for the zed i suppose... I'll see how I go tomorrow, but I doubt I'll have the time to drive out Quote
Zedback Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 No prob. There'll be others. In fact there is another one on next weekend at the Lockwood Heritage Museum. It's being run on dirt so I haven't decided whether to go or not. Might make a for a good Sunday drive though. Quote
dougybe Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 So how did you all go yesterday? Any photos or vids? I am still keen to catch up this weekend for anyone who also couldn't make it yesterday. BBQ or drive out to watch the dirt Motohana?? Quote
. Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Nobody came from the forum. Yes I have some video. I am waiting for Youtube to make it available. Quote
. Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I guess I need to mention at this point that it was not me driving in that particular video. I stuffed up on my first attempt to upload my video. I will try again tonight. Quote
