Woza01 Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 Ive just pulled out the entire Factory A/C Heater system out of my 76 260Z - Its never worked in the time ive had it, and never tried (wouldnt knwo where to start)....so If you want it all, make me an offer......just dont have any of the underbonnet stuff.....only underdash stuff. As I feel the heat, Im currently doing an aftermarket A/C Heater install in my car which will be much more efficient & neater that the standard system, and whats more, doesnt require any of those ugly vacuum lines & actuators ! RBZ 260 Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 not sure if this helps but hopefully does. got a similar car 76 260Z 2+2. kept the original heater box and a/c heat exhanger. though have an old school condensor R12 type , with R32 Skyline compressor (came with the engine). had custom pipes made up to adapt between the 70's and the 90's pipework. got new reciever drier bottle with new pressure swich. the rest is prob more difficult if u not a electronics buff. ive installed R32 Climate controll with all the steper motors to move the flaps etc....so all the vacum rubish got removed. got it regassed summer that just passed, blows realy cold. only issue i have with it is the fan is not strong enough for 43C days. also the original vent positions are useless past shoulder height (im 6ft 1) so i guess it was designed for japs. apperently a blower from a honda will bolt up with small mods but im still chasing this. now the summer is over so not in a hurry. but will like to change the 160W fan to something closer to 250W. factory gas should work fine if compressor is good and no leaks in the system. new Ra134 gas works fine with older setup. no need to change for expensive modern cores unless u get one cheap of evilbay from a falcon or commodore. thats if it fits.
