Toecutter Posted April 30, 2005 Posted April 30, 2005 The last batch of stickers I made up were designed in a rush. It's time to get some new ones made up. Any input from members would be appreciated seeing we want them to look sharp so people will want to put them on their cars. So get your Photoshop, Fireworks or what ever it is you like to use to submit a sticker design for VICZCAR.COM Cheers Sulio Quote
matt drago Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Any chance of getting the fonts used in the banners on the site or clean images of texts? Try to keep the designs of the site and media in sync with eachother. Also, if anyone is looking into designing stickers, think about doing one alla NDSOC's shield sticker. I'm not a big fan of putting stickers on my cars, but I wouldn't mind doing twin shields of NDSOC and vicZcar on the bottom of the tailgate window, if ya know what I mean. Quote
matt drago Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 Oh, and I forget to mention that we should get them made in reverse style, so that you can stick them on the inside of the car rather than on the outside, if you get what I mean. The mind is not very clear this evening Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 4, 2005 Administrators Posted May 4, 2005 Should be able to download. 65_.zip Quote
NR240 Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Any progress on the club stickers? Would be nice to show them off when they're done! Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 12, 2005 Administrators Posted June 12, 2005 Well actually quick answer is no... however I do plan on getting on with that after exams. It would be nice to have a few others make an attempt even if your Photoshop(or any other program you use) skills arn't the best sometimes it's the general idea that counts and I can always make it more beautiful from there. Failing that I guess I'll put together 10 or so designs and everyone can vote on their favourites. Quote
Toecutter Posted June 13, 2005 Author Posted June 13, 2005 Here's a couple of old ones I was playing with last year. Prolly need some mention of the S130 on the first one seeing this was only a first go I did'nt think much about content at the time. I'm sure some of you fella could come up with something much better than these!? Quote
Zeddophile Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 Definitely like the black and white one as it is... Quote
Natez Posted June 14, 2005 Posted June 14, 2005 agreed black and white one looks great We need something modern with classic and simple trimmings, as im bored right now i'll give something a try GAV< what dimensions and DPI should i be working it to,,, Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 15, 2005 Administrators Posted June 15, 2005 I guess best thing to do would be to first work out what size we want this sticker to be. I don't think anyone wants one of those shiny reflecting ones that take up 3/4 of your rear window like the Mario's in their VL's seem to love   not that there's anything wrong with that . I was actually thinking of creating the sticker as a vector image. That way it will have very nice defined lines and we could also do it easily in a range of sizes for all kinds of purposes like shirts/coffee mugs/small and large stickers etc.. I think in terms of DPI a minimum for print would be 300DPI but your only gonna need 72DPI on the screen. I guess we should really work out a size we want the sticker to be first. I'm having a rough guess and saying 20 X 20 cm would be good but how do others feel? FORMULA FOR DETERMINING SIZE. 800 X 600 PIXEL IMAGE. 800/72 = 11.11 Inches 600/72 = 8.33 Inches This formula can be transposed so that you can find what you'll need for a certain size sticker however you must use inches pixels and dpi for the formula to work converting to cm's later. If you get what i mean. Anyway just have a shot at it anyway since we're not printing it yet i don't know how good you are at using vector based drawings but i thought something along the lines of that cool art you see for cars would be good. EG: those huge rims and exhaust pipes under a squashed S30 shape . However i also like the idea sulio had of using a 2 bit image of a Z. Quote
Toecutter Posted June 15, 2005 Author Posted June 15, 2005 Those examples are quite old. I'm sure we can get something better than that. I've got a couple more ideas myself but it will be cool to see some other ides!!! Quote
NR240 Posted June 15, 2005 Posted June 15, 2005 One thing to keep in mind Car stickers need to be screen printed in order to prevent fading. Traditional "offset" printing using 4 colour process with plates is no good, picture will look great, but this type of process cant lay down enough ink to stop fading after a few years of sun exposure. Therefore screen printing is the way to go. Avoid any stipple effect, solid colours work best and less colours makes it cost effective; as normally they are printed on a one colour press, requiring a separate pass and wash-up for each colour. Sulio's black and red design would work quite well under this process. Some stickers look great on the screen, but turn out terrible when screen printed. The NDSOC stickers are screen printed. My two cents? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 16, 2005 Administrators Posted June 16, 2005 Yes I agree Nigel another reason I was going to go for a Vector Image with basic colours. I'm sure we can come up with something that will be basic and effective at the same time. Infact this will be a good practice exercise for myself. Quote
matt drago Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Here's my first crack at it. I've not used Illustrator before, but sort of starting to get the hang of it. It's not finished yet, am planning to put an outline drawing of a the car in the center of the circle, just have to find a good example to use. I also should get rid of the www., didn't notice that it is not on the banner (site not available issues again :? ) I'm planning this sticker out as about 8cm square. Similar in size to the ndsoc shield sticker. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 16, 2005 Administrators Posted June 16, 2005 I like the concept Matt I recorded the site as being down 11:17 am EST Wednesday 15th of June 2005. Next time it's down i'll do the same if we reach 5 or more within a month i'll take action. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted June 16, 2005 Administrators Posted June 16, 2005 This is a quick draft the colours are a bit wrong but its more to give a general idea. Quote
matt drago Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Okay, got an image of the car and put it all together. Let me know what you think. I played around with the wording of the center circle as I wasn't sure what worked the best. I tried the 240Z/260Z instead of the S30/S130 as people would be able to more easily recognise the Z names rather than the body models (I know I have left out the ZX's, couldn't work out a nice way to fit it all in ) Quote
Toecutter Posted June 19, 2005 Author Posted June 19, 2005 I like the look of the one matt drago has come up with. The image of the Z looks the most appropriate in that one. Maybe go for more solid lettering to give it more impact Matt?! Nigel, you seem to know quite a bit about the whole sticker process ins and outs, are you involved in the printing game? Any ideas on where to get a good deal on the next batch of stickers we get made up mate? Cheers Sulio Quote
matt drago Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 Hey sulio, I have an idea using the same elements for a long sticker. Which of the four wordings that I posted did you like the best? I'll fix that one up to have heavier strokes and also make a long version using those words. Hey Gav, If you like, I can send you the illustrator version of the images. Cheers, Matt Quote
thehelix112 Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 I still prefer the two-tone black and white one. That zed looks mean as. What pic is it based from? I'm tihking of having a play with some stencil arts shortly, going to use that zed as my first one. Dave Quote
matt drago Posted June 19, 2005 Posted June 19, 2005 What can I say, I'm old school and like the car as she was originally released. Sulio, if you can post the original graphic of that two tone z that you used, I'll incorporate it into my design and post for comments. Cheers, Matt Quote
Jimbo Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 Im with Dave on this one. I like the black & white model at the moment. Maybe introduce some colour to make it a bit more standout, but in my opinion its the best yet. Good work all you blokes. Quote
Toecutter Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 Matt, Your right that not many people would know what the S30 might mean so I prefer the last one however we do have S130 members so it makes sense to use those body series numbers!? I don't know, I suppose we should wait until we have more designs and then post o voting thread??? Anyways I'll attach the pic I used in the first one. Sulio Quote
Toecutter Posted June 20, 2005 Author Posted June 20, 2005 Another quick one. Probably too many colours. Sulio Quote
